Hans Scheffler
Looks like synergy-users@googlegroups.com has disappeared or else I was removed as member... Is this forum now the only place to discuss Synergy?
Synergy Team Nick Bolton Posted February 9, 2018 Synergy Team Share Posted February 9, 2018 Yes, that was a relic of our open source heritage. It was becoming too difficult to manage many different points of contact. Please use these forums as an alternative.
Hans Scheffler
Thanks for the reply Nick. Understandable & now we know. A final "goodbye, see you on the Synergy forum" post on the group would have been nice though... I thought that Synergy (at least v 1) was still open source and that payment was just for the compiled binaries. Am I wrong? I paid for v1 and v2 to support the project, partly because it was open source. In fact I downloaded the v1 source this week to see if I could get it compiled on Mageia Linux 6 (no luck yet; see my post in the v1 forum) . Is v2 not built on v1? Is v2 not open source? Synergy Team Nick Bolton Posted February 9, 2018 Synergy Team Share Posted February 9, 2018 S2 is partially open source, it uses synergy-core (https://github.com/symless/synergy-core) which will always be GPL. They're separate components though, so you can still use the core independently of the closed source parts.
