DTrain Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 This is my first post here. I'm not really looking to get involved but I do want to provide this input on functionality. Maybe I haven't researched this enough, but it seems like another KVM utility, DeskDock, has really got the PC to Android KVM thing down. For instance, the article below throws Synergy Android client under the bus in favor of DeskDock. I love Synergy, I would rather use it than any other KVM utility, but an easy to use Android KVM is very attractive. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/control-android-using-computers-mouse-keyboard/ More on DeskDock here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/09/08/deskdock-shares-computers-mouse-keyboard-android-device/ and here: https://lifehacker.com/deskdock-controls-your-android-device-with-your-compute-1786425812 Server here: http://fdmobileinventions.blogspot.com/p/deskdock-server.html A quick keyword search on the Synergy 2 beta forum shows some discussion about an improved Android client, but not much, but an improved Android client would be huge. In order to compete with tools like DeskDock, Synergy's Android client needs to be just as simple to setup, easy to use, and reliable... that means no modding required. This is true for consumer and enterprise level. What are people's thoughts on this? Am I missing something about the new flexibility of Synergy 2? Am I undervaluing the Synergy Client (https://github.com/symless/synergy-android-cyanogen)?
Sir Logic Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 I wasn't aware that there was any possibility of an Android client... That is a great idea... I second the idea that Android should be one of the supported platforms
jaap aarts Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 this makes sense with the auto setup stuff they are doin.
Synergy Team Nick Bolton Posted October 31, 2017 Synergy Team Posted October 31, 2017 Cool find! Yeah, we do want to add Android support, and we hope to do this next year.
