AU518987077
partway though adding all of my computers i have ran into an issue of seen and unseen. when i had 4 computers connected everything was working, each computer could be controlled and control the others, as i presume is the intention of synergy 2. but on adding a 5th computer things have stopped being quite so cohesive. as seen in the attached image. i have two computers that have almost made a two way relationship but the two computers sayuri10 and papurika have broken down when i added Kathryn. i have tried different combinations of reboots, cold boots, and service restarts, stops and starts. at this point i still need to add at least three more computers, and in the near future at least 5 servers. when using synergy 1.6 and back, i had no issue with the constellation as depicted in the second screenshot of sayuri10's (multi-boot windows/Linux machine as the server with windows and Linux clients here are the logs by computer name Yukari https://synergy-logs.symless.com/2017-09-26/1698-2017-09-26T17-13-34.log Sakuya https://synergy-logs.symless.com/2017-09-26/1698-2017-09-26T23-15-10.log Sayuri10 https://synergy-logs.symless.com/2017-09-26/1698-2017-09-26T17-12-35.log Papurika https://synergy-logs.symless.com/2017-09-26/1698-2017-09-26T17-16-32.log Kathryn https://synergy-logs.symless.com/2017-09-26/1698-2017-09-26T17-16-32.log a note about Kathryn is that i found the log file and it has content at "C:\Users\AU518987077\AppData\Local\Symless\Synergy\synergy.log" despite it saying it cant find it. it is in fact writing to it. AU518987077
after a few days, a change has occurred after rebooting one machine. Kathryn https://synergy-logs.symless.com/2017-09-29/1698-2017-09-28T21-45-20.log has grabbed the constellation configuration, but still cant be controlled or control. and now even yukari and sakuya can no longer see each other. despite their synergy 2 control panel's being unchanged in output. Try pressing F12 on the system that you would like to be the server. I believe it is because Synergy is getting confused as to which is which (server and client) and doing that will help. I presume you've tried all the steps in the beta4 troubleshooting guide. Additionally, on Kathryn, I can see in your logs that it is having trouble connecting to an IP address of "192.168.0.158" on port 24800. Make sure that the port of 24800 is open and not being blocked by a HIDS/HIPS (host intrusion detection system/host intrustion prevention system) or equivalent of some kind. Try restarting services. Also, you may want to wait until beta5. Beta5 changes the connection topology, so it may fix your issue. For now, however, do F12 and come back if that doesn't fix it. By that time, I or another community member should have figured out a next step.

By that time, I or another community member should have figured out a next step. tried that, no effect. but what has atleast for the present moment cause better cohesion is rebooting my entire lan, all routers and switches in order of extremity to core. and then restarting the synergy services on each machine. do not knwo what made it click this time, but once i restarted the synergy services on sakuya (the 5th machine of 5) everything started to click into palce, synergy 2.0 crashed, so i closed it on sakuya, restarted the synergy services one more time and as soon as i reopened the synergy 2 control panel application kathryn was able to control all the machines. Kathryn now has control of all pc's but no other pc can control anyone else even after hitting F12 on Yukari, Sayuri, Papurika or Sakuya. for now this is usable, because kathryn (Laptop) is sitting infront of sakuya (desktop) and sakuya's keyboard is inconveant to access at the moment. Papurika and Sakuya are on shelves behind a table and it is a bother to reach them or remove said table. please advise on what you would want to me to do or try. thank you. Onoitsu2
@AU518987077 Thank you so much for your continued efforts with us here to get this resolved. I am not a member of the Dev team, merely a mod in the forums, but it is information like this that will help them to isolate the causes. You have been so incredibly detailed in the information provided. I must take the time to thank you openly here for it. If only more were able to provide this level of detail, I know our wonderful devs would be able to stamp out every issue that came the way of the users of Synergy. AU518987077
i have decided to keep my constellation as it is at the moment until told to do otherwise, in case the developers need more specific information about my configuration. at least until the next beta version is released, at which point i will do a clean uninstall and reproduce the same steps that brought me here to this usable cohesion of some of my computers
AU518987077
i am still having inconsistency in cohesion of the constellation of my five computers and am currently researching a means of writing a series of batch files that will allow me to remotely stop, and start or restart the syerngy service on all computers simultaneously. if someone has already made such a batch file i could simply edit for network names or target ip addresses that would save me time and sanity. in the mean time i am still getting a mixed message form synergy GUI that there is an agreement that the computers are online and cooperating but at this moment, i cannot access yukari, the days before i ended up beign unable again to copy and paste anythign to anyone but still had access to other machines form still only kathryn. i have reinstalled mIRC and will remain there even passively if anyone wants to chat about this or have any suggestions on what to try. again if anyone wants more specific details or logs or a recall of my step by step process of what is going on i am more than happy to help out by documenting and submitting or just having a chat about it, i promise i wont demand any new features outside of these forums or bore you with my life's story too much in a chat or call ---pre-submit edit just as i was going to submit this i tried once more to restart the services simultaneously on all five machines and i have cohesion, including both control (still only kathryn as "server" despite pressing F12 on Yukari or sayuri, papurika and sakuya are physically inconvenient to reach at the moment.) and copy and paste of text form any machine to any machine. i feel like my machines just want to make a liar out of me, but all part of the beta process. any help in a series of batch files targeted at restarting or stopping and starting the synergy service on windows based machines remotely to multiple remote targets including the locally executed machine would be nice as a backup option. at least such a feature is incorporated into synergy itself not unlike a implanted cardiac defibrillator. Onoitsu2
The issue I see is remotely running this command, most Windows computers are not set up to permit remote commands to be processed. It is as simple as running 'net stop synergy' and 'net start synergy' (there is no restart from command line only start and stop) locally on the machine. But for remote we would use the following sc \\COMPUTERNAME stop "synergy" sc \\COMPUTERNAME start "synergy" and on a side note you can use sc \\COMPUTERNAME query "synergy" to query the status of it I located a script that could be adapted for this at https://stackoverflow.com/a/3025996
