I'm hoping this is just somethin in the configuration I'm overlooking, but when moving from one dekstop to another, the mouse cursor moves to the centre of the screen on the dektop I am leaving. Is there a way to set the default position to be somewhere else? Like a corner for instance?

Hi @colinjmatt. Can you share the contents of your configuration file here?

So I'm using a Mac as the server with a Windows 10 PC connecting to it as a client:

MacOS config:

section: screens
    WIN10-PC:
        halfDuplexCapsLock = false
        halfDuplexNumLock = false
        halfDuplexScrollLock = false
        xtestIsXineramaUnaware = false
        switchCorners = none
        switchCornerSize = 0
    MacBook-Air.local:
        halfDuplexCapsLock = false
        halfDuplexNumLock = false
        halfDuplexScrollLock = false
        xtestIsXineramaUnaware = false
        switchCorners = none
        switchCornerSize = 0
end

section: aliases
    WIN10-PC:
        192.168.0.104
        WIN10-PC.local
end

section: links
    WIN10-PC:
        right = MacBook-Air.local
    MacBook-Air.local:
        left = WIN10-PC
end

section: options
    relativeMouseMoves = false
    screenSaverSync = false
    win32KeepForeground = false
    clipboardSharing = true
    switchCorners = none
    switchCornerSize = 0
end

Windows 10 config:

section: screens
end

section: aliases
end

section: links
end

section: options
    relativeMouseMoves = false
    screenSaverSync = true
    win32KeepForeground = false
    clipboardSharing = true
    switchCorners = none
    switchCornerSize = 0
end

Hi @colinjmatt. I am still trying to reproduce this problem. Are you connected via wired? or wireless?

Posted

My Macbook is connecting wirelessly, but the Windows 10 PC is connected via ethernet. They are both using the same router, although there is an unmanaged switch between the ethernet connection and the router.

I think it's well worth mentioning that I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions for Windows (separately) and this occurs in both versions for me. However, it does not do this when the Synergy Pro window opens for the first time after a reinstall, but when I close the window it immediately then begins to return the mouse cursor to the centre of the Windows 10 PC when I move the mouse back to my Mac.

I can also stop it from occurring when I open the Synergy Pro window, stop it and start it on the Windows 10 PC either by using the Stop/sSart button or by using the Apply button.

If I do the above to stop it from happening, minimising the window does not affect the operation. It's only when the window is closed, or if the service starts without the window open in the first place where this issue appears to occur. Also, having Bonjour installed on the Windows 10 PC does not alter what is happening.

If you have anything specific you'd like me to try, please ask me.

Also, if it helps, the basic specs of each machine are as follows:

Windows 10 PC:

Edition: Windows 10 Pro
Version: 1703
OS Build: 15063.483

AMD A10-5800K APU with Radeon 7660D
8GB DDR3 RAM
128GB SSD

Macbook Air:

MacOS Sierra 10.12.6

MacBook Air 13 inch early 2014
1.4Ghz dual core Intel Core i5
Intel HD 5000 graphics
4GB DDR3
128GB SSD

OK, after some more investigation, I have found the following:

  • When Windows starts, Synergy starts in the background but there is no tray icon. The mouse cursor will move to the centre when leaving the desktop when there is no tray icon.
  • Opening the Synergy Pro window from the start menu makes the tray icon appear so it can be hidden by right-clicking the tray icon and clicking Hide to hide the Synergy Pro window. The mouse cursor does not move to the centre of the screen when the tray icon is present.
