OSX - Modifier keys not sending to application

I am required to utilize Oracle Secure Global Desktop on one of my clients, and recent versions of Synergy are not sending modifier keys (ctrl, alt, shift) to the application at all. I have been able to use Synergy 1.8.5 with SGD version 5.2, but the client has upgrading to SGD 5.3 and none of the versions I have access to are working. The modifier keys are still sending to the OS just fine, and other applications also work as expected.  SGD does not pick up the modifier keys at all. SGD does pick up the modifier keys when using a keyboard connected directly to the client.

Would definitely appreciate some help with this, as it makes Synergy unusable for the client, which is basically just in use as an SGD terminal.

Setup:

Server - OSX 10.11.6

Client - OSX 10.10.5

Tested versions:

SGD 5.2 + Synergy 1.8.5 - works

SGD 5.2 + Synergy 1.8.8/1.9.0_rc3 - not working

SGD 5.3 + Synergy 1.8.5/1.8.8/1.9.0_rc3 - not working
