Dear Sir/Madam,

I didn't check to make sure that when you said mac osx it only meant
certain versions of mac osx. Unfortunately, I have a machine that has
been left behind by the kind folks of Apple. I'm stuck at snow leopard
10.6.8. The value of your software is greatly reduced because I cannot
get this machine to run the software. It dies immediately upon load with
something like this.

Any ideas on how to make it work on this old machine? Do you have an
older version that ran on this machine that I could download? Is it
possible to compile from source? I really want this to work, but
everything I've tried so far, including SynergyKM, does not work. Your
web site is so extensive I don't even know where to start looking. I'm
not trying to be a pita, but I don't want to spend a lot of time
figuring this one out. If you've got a link, I'd really be appreciative.

Thanks so much,
Mark Richardson

p.s. I've got a total of 3 machines that I move between.  They are (left to right): 1. Ubuntu 14.04, 2. Mac osx Snow Leopard, 3. Ubuntu 16.04.  Currently, I can move the mouse between screens 1 and 3 so I know the software is working at some level. Upon reading the fine print of your web site, I see that I'm technically out of luck with the Snow Leopard os, but I"m hoping there is a work around to fix what seems like should be a solvable problem.  Thanks again!

Do you have a version that goes all the way back to September 2013?  I admit, you owe me nothing.  I'm running an outdated pos Mac Pro, but its got software on it that I cannot replace without great expense in time and money (cough cough Adobe). Therefore, I'm willing to put up with another mouse and keyboard if I have to.  However, if you have a way old version that's missing some of the bells and whistles but still supports the same protocol, I'd be willing to try it.  Even if it's a known security risk.  I'm behind a firewall and I'm running an unpatched OS so I've already got my knickers down.  However, I do back up like a fiend so the risk should be minimal to me.

Thanks again,

Mark

Dear Paul,

I've tried so many things over the past weeks, that I cannot even verify that what I'm about to tell you is gospel truth. grin. Primarily, I downloaded your software, (I don't remember if it's zipped or not. If it was, I unzipped it) then I dragged the file to the applications folder. Next, click on the installer to start the installation process. Installation seems to go off without a hitch. Then when I finally try and run the Synergy executable, it dies immediately.  I've posted the post mortem details above.  The log doesn't seem very helpful in helping you narrow down the cause.  I also tried an older version ( I think 1.8.5) and it dies immediately just like it's successor.  Hope this helps.  Do you have a stable version that goes back 3 or 4 years but still implements the synergy protocol?  I'd like to try the version that was running back in the day when Snow Leopard was in its prime.

over and out,

Mark

When you say "click on the installer," do you mean you are clicking on the icon which is beside the applications folder? If so, have you tried opening the applications folder first and look for Synergy in there? If you see it, that's where you need to start it.
