Are you using auto configuration? Can you post a screenshot of both machine's Synergy interface?

Hi thanks for quick response.
Please see below, if i try do the auto config Synergy crashes.

Basing it on the screenshots, machines are not on the same network. Please make sure that they are connected to the same network. If you're using VPN, please disable the VPN's network adapter before starting Synergy. You can turn it back on after you have managed to connect your machines.

Hi, 
One is a desktop and one is a laptop. 
The Desktop is on ethernet, are required to be on the exact same network?

Yes. You can verify if they can communicate by pinging the other machine from the other one.
