ERROR: cannot read configuration

Somehow my synergy has stopped working,

• tried resetting the configuration
• uninstalled and reinstalled synergy
• checked all IP address is correct
• checked that my LAN cable is connected /s
• looked online for solutions to similar error messages (something about hyphens in screen name but removing them did not fix it)

None of the above has worked

The client no longer shows synergy on  start menu and when I try to uninstall synergy it says a file is missing, so I ran repair, and then restarted and now synergy is not installed at all -- so I reinstalled on client; says watchdog status: ok

Note: read error: line 9: duplicate screen name "Unnamed", this was due to me changing configurations, i tired these as named, when I copy/pasted they happened to not be named

 

Yay... while retracing my steps to write this post, now it works.

The client was corrupted: I uninstalled, repaired, uninstalled again, and then reinstalled. Works.
