Cursor bounces back when trying to move to client

1st:  Why can't I post to the general discussion?  When I create a new topic that selection is greyed out.

2nd:  I have been having problems with the cursor bouncing back from the client to the host.  This happens within about a day or so of re-booting and everything working fine.

-host: Win10 64b  ver1.8.8 stable

-client: Win XP 32b ver1.8.8 stable

-move mouse from host screen to client screen

-cursor briefly appears on client screen and then bounces back to host screen.

-logs on both show a happy connection until I try to move the cursor over.  Then the client throws up a bunch of logs that look OK until one says "note: server is dead'.  The host also puts up a bunch of OK logs until one says "note: client "xxx" is dead.  Everything then looks OK with both host and client claiming each is connected until I try to move the cursor over again.

-re-starting synergy on both machines makes no difference.  The only fix I have is to completely re-boot both machines and start over.  That only lasts for a day or so before the whole thing craps out again.

Any ideas?

Note that I can go to the client computer and using the local mouse select and copy, and then I can paste the text back to the host.  So copy and paste is working, just cursor navigation is not.

One more update:  I noticed occasionally it spontaneously starts working again for a while.  I have no explanation why.
