Kalle Koivisto Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 What version of Synergy? 1.7.1 Pro What OS is the Server? Win 8.1 What OS is the Client? Ubuntu 14.04 Any debugging messages? Nope I decided to update Synergy on my both PCs to enable TLS. On Ubuntu I'm facing problems with the setup wizard which logs me in and fetches the plugin list, but gets jammed at "Downloading plugin: ns (1/1)". The loading icon keeps circling but it never gets forward. Not sure where is the problem, I'm on company network and I tried to change proxy settings through Unity GUI but it didn't seem to have any affect on anything. What bothers me is that Synergy manages to communicate with at least something when it logs me in and fetches the plugin list. Any suggestions?
K.T Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Same situation here. Workstation running Windows 8.1, internet access behind my company's reverse proxy. And it is not able to pass the "Download plugin : ns (1/1)" step. Tried every possible combination of proxy configuration, restarting Synergy service, even rebooting workstation after every changes. Still stuck at the same stage. On the other hand, every unit running synergy with direct internet access is able to complete successfully the wizard process, and run the application (1.7.1) as a registered user. My Synergy's server workstation is running as UNREGISTERED, and is at least able to allow client's connection, but without SSL encryption. (Clients: Ubuntu 14.10 and W8.1) Any suggestion ?
Kalle Koivisto Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 I found a solution that worked for me. I made a hot spot on my mobile phone and removed the http and https proxies for my terminal session (unset http_proxy and unset https_proxy). Then opened Synergy on that terminal by simply typing "synergy" and run the wizard successfully. I still didn't get the Synergy TLS working though but since it's another problem, I'll open another thread if I don't find a solution by myself first.
