thibaut noah Posted December 9, 2015 Share Posted December 9, 2015 Hello, trying hard to get the software to work here Server is configure with 3 screens (one in the middle for the server and one at each side for both clients, currently using only one). The host is fedora and i'm trying to connect the client on osx el capitan. I got this : [2015-12-05T18:39:19] NOTE: connecting to '192.168.1.37': 192.168.1.37:24800 [2015-12-05T18:39:19] WARNING: failed to connect to server: Connection refused [2015-12-05T18:39:19] INFO: stopping synergy desktop process The host is saying : zeroconf client detected: osx The screen name on the client is the same (it is the one i defined in the server configuration on the host). Could someone point me to the problem here? Also i have a network bridge between fedora and win10 (running with libvirt) and fedora doesn't seem to detect automatically my win10 guest though the screen name is good on both client and servers. Yuya Fujiwara1491393133 Posted December 13, 2015 Share Posted December 13, 2015 Hi, I'm using fedora(v22, kernel 4.2.6-201) and OS X el capitan too, so I hope that my suggestion will work for you. Could you try/check followings? *0 run wizard (Perhaps you have tried it again and again... but I have been helped by them) *1 Check Screen name Is your client (OS X) "screen name" is consistent with the "computer name" that is shown on the upper side of 'System Preferences' ->'Share ; "computer name" '? (*2 Check Firewall -- check Port 24800 is opened both fedora and OSX.) If I say that it is too easy for you, I'm sorry. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
thibaut noah Posted January 15, 2016 Author Share Posted January 15, 2016 Hi, i runned the wizard about 20 times so i think i'm good The screen name is consistent. From the client i connect myself to one of the two ip's that appears on the server interface, but that doesn't work. Port is open in fedora, firewall is totally disable on osx. Note that my issue advance, it's not connection refused now but connection timeout : [2016-01-15T13:05:30] NOTE: connecting to '192.168.1.40': 192.168.1.40:24800 2016-01-15 13:05:30.736 synergyc[48477:3989199] starting cocoa loop [2016-01-15T13:05:45] WARNING: failed to connect to server: Timed out Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Yuya Fujiwara1491393133 Posted January 15, 2016 Share Posted January 15, 2016 I want to know whether the network connection between the server and the client was established or not. Please try
ping (Fedora IP)
on the OSX terminal, and
ping (OSX IP)
on the Fedora terminal. If you receive the result such as the following, a network problem has been occurred.
$ ping 192.168.100.2 PING 192.168.100.2 (192.168.100.2): 56 data bytes Request timeout for icmp_seq 0 Request timeout for icmp_seq 1 ^C --- 192.168.100.2 ping statistics --- 3 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
