  1. I think that should probably change from: to: ExecStart=/bin/env HOME=/home/<username> /usr/bin/synergyd If your username is joeblow, then it would be: ExecStart=/bin/env HOME=/home/joeblow /usr/bin/synergyd Unless of course you also installed synergy as root or normally operate your UI day to day as root (bad idea). I think for the majority of users that have downloaded synergy the config file will only exist in their own home directory.

  2. Hi Linux users, To use beta4, please run these commands after installing and before starting the config app: mkdir -p ~/.config/synergy/ ln -s ~/.config/Symless/Synergy/synergy.conf ~/.config/synergy/synergy.conf /usr/bin/synergyd The last line starts the service, and the service log can be found in: /var/log/synergy-service.log Sorry that we dropped the ball for Linux on this one! Thanks, Nick

  3. Too bad we don't know where that websocket is. I thought you said in another post that it only phoned home once to verify serial number then would not do that again. Both of mine successfully did the validation. Why are they trying to phone home again? Too bad we don't know what websocket it is trying to connect to. I'd like to see if there is something blocking it. (although my PC's firewall is Off)

  4. I also feel "Minimize to tray" is absolutely critical atleast for windows users, not sure if theres an equivalent option on apple and linux...

  5. Yeah, while for the most part it probably won't be a problem for me I kinda want it to have a local mode as well. Maybe they will add that back in.

  6. I see. It's working now. However I just realized, that Synergy v2 seems to be 100% completely cloud-based and relies on an internet connection. Somehow I don't really like the way to the cloud concept...

  7. The biggest worry I have is Synergy not being able to work on a closed network. Having to phone home really takes away from the product.

  8. ive fixed the service issue, the PATH value wasnt set and was throwing an error which the command below did not pick up on. systemctl status synergy using the code below in the synergy.service should fix the service. ExecStart=/bin/env HOME=/home/<username> /usr/bin/synergyd the only way I could display the error was using a wrapper executing the program and dump the env output to a text file for validation. 11. Good news. We've added a ton of IP logging to beta4 (access the log view with the ` key). It'll be released very shortly!

  12. most of us techy people don't trust automatic. Quick question this version is not starting and running in the tray and when I close the main window i stops everthing. Did i do something wrong..it should be in the tray right?

  13. I do have to appreciate your activity in your forums, most CEOs don't post in their forums. In fact the only other CEO I've seen this active is Ikey, the CEO/Founder of Solus Linux.

  14. I'm not sure why i didn't think of this before but using Snaps or flatpak would make it a lot easier to maintain an installer for the vast majority of distributions with minimal effort. Snaps https://snapcraft.io Flatpak http://flatpak.org
