I look at comments like, "if you want Synergy, you need to switch to Xorg" to being equivalent to, "you must run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode". The new product has been out for nearly a decade, is widely adopted, and has become the default for a number of popular distributions. I understand there are engineering challenges, but it also helps to actually work on the problem instead of shipping new commercial features. The audience for Synergy are primarily power users, many of whom use Linux. If you won't support Wayland, it's almost as like Linux support is itself bec5 points

not sure when wayland support is planned, but linux is moving pretty fast in that direction. Doesn't effect me at the moment, but I'm sure my next upgrade will see wayland on my computer either alone or alongside X. Either way X is clearly on its way out.4 points

Amazing news everyone! Synergy 3 RC1 is now available to download. Update: Synergy 3 RC2 is now available.4 points

Why is the thread locked on github? How do we get some momentum on getting wayland supported/working?4 points

Just wanted to let you know the android and Samsung Dex would still be great additions. I realize this thread started over 5 years ago but both android & Samsung have continued to move into daily drivers for so many people. Even if it doesn't have the copy & paste features initially, just the ability to share the mouse and keyboard would be great!4 points

Synergy 3 RC2 is here! A few of the changes: Many fixes on all operating systems Skip empty screen with continue button Improved overall installation process Use readable names in generated config file More comprehensive reset procedure on macOS You can get RC2 on the download page.3 points

I have a computer that is connected to the network via wired Ethernet + Wi-Fi. In Synergy 3 beta on the server machine, I see 2 IP addresses, and the Wi-Fi address happens to be listed first. I am finding that client machines can use the slower connection by default even if from the client machine, the server is added manually by IP address (matching the wired connection). In the simplified interface, it's a little unclear how this works. I'd like a way for: 1) the server machine to allow specifying the default interface broadcast for discovery by clients 2) the client machine t3 points

Toxic? no. Bittered ? maybe? But why ? This feature has been long waited by many people, and it was even promised by Symless. And all of a sudden, no news, no feedback, closing ,the github issue, parking the users in a no-exit dead end, not replying to the support opened, or even preventing submitting feedback about that. If they don't want to do it for whatever reasons, fine, but then they should be responsible and have a clear statement about it. And clearly spot to Linux users at purchase their product does not supporting Wayland, thus not working on modern Linux DEs.3 points

It would be awesome to have native V6 support in the Synergy app. For networks where the focus is to be v6-only or v6-preferred it's impossible to use Synergy without configuring IPv4 at the current moment. In Synergy 2 you could specify the full IP address of the remote computer but I found it didn't matter if I used hostnames with only a AAAA record or tried to configure the address manually, both with and without brackets around the address and wasn't able to yield any results. The synergy server would immediately crash and restart repeatedly with the v6 address configured. Additionall2 points

Hello, I just upgraded to Synergy 3 in hopes they fixed gestures on my second macbook. No luck :( It obviously works well on my main macbook but it would be nice if I could use my trackpad to do a 3-finger swipe up to show all apps on my second mac. Also, the option button on my mac bluetooth keyboard doesn't work either. I have to use the keyboard on my second mac to get it to work.2 points

Finally pushed up from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to 22.04 LTS and ran into this. Have to say I'm somewhat disappointed that this is a 9 year issue without very erratic communication from Symless.2 points

^bump very similar setup here. i make music on my macbook, game on my desktop. I suspect it will work if i use the mac as the mouse / keyboard server, but that means introducing lag into the gaming setup. I am going to test it anyway. maybe with a wired connection it wont be so bad but it means the mac will have to be docked in order for me to use the PC at all (or start fumbling with cables i suppose) -Ill mention here that sidecar does work with synergy. If i want to extend my mac display with sidecar I can move the synergy mouse (controlled by the PC) to the ipad no problem.2 points

What is the state of Wayland support? It was promised in 2017. now it'll be 2023. next month. This is an essential feature! What is going on?2 points

I'd be more than happy if Symless came out with a separate "enhanced edition" that includes Wayland support and I would happily auy another license for it. I bought the previous license quite long ago and I got more than my money's worth from it.2 points

to whomever this might concern: this can simply be solved by using pulseaudio system (it's *nix native, but has binaries for Windows and OS X AFAIK). server side can be configured by adding following line to default.pa (wherever it my be on your system, *nix default is at /etc/pulse/default.pa) load-module module-native-protocol-tcp auth-ip-acl=127.0.0.1;[column separated IPs or IP ranges] auth-anonymous=1 on server you can then list sinks with pactl list sinks and then tunnel the sound from client pactl load-module module-tunnel-sink "server=[IP OF SERVER] sink2 points

Any chance of a Synergy build for ARM devices running Windows 10? I was toying with buying a Surface Pro X, but I do pretty much live off of having my thinkpad as my primary input device for everything at my desk. I know, I'm a little fringe, but aren't all Synergy users?1 point

Add the ability to share audio hardware as we do with peripherals like keyboard and mouse. I am aware of other projects/API available like PulseAudio (https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/), Jack (http://jackaudio.org/) that can do audio routing through network but limited in several aspects (not user-friendly mainly). The ease of configuring synergy inspires me to have such a thing for audio hardware too.1 point

Since I was already annoyed, I spent a few minutes searching in Discord to find this is a known issue from at least three days ago that nobody has fixed or documented elsewhere. So, ahhh, Nick -- appreciate the unnecessarily wasted 25 minutes this morning. https://discord.com/channels/672449930345971733/1009455765897101422/1161381904344424459 @Christ -- use your offline license code instead of username & password. If I can do some very basic things on my tablet without having to pick it up and touch the screen, I'd be happy already. Just being able to use it as a basic second screen for a web browser or playing music without having to release my mouse would be nice.1 point

Hi all, There never seems to be any actual answers to this without a ridiculously overcomplicated dump of log inputs or other stuff, and it seems like this should be something that has been asked enough to be simple to solve. What is required to be put in the config file to take advantage of the extra mouse buttons on the client machines? They work fine on the server machine, but not on the clients. My setup: Server - MacBookPro1-codename Client 1 - MacBookPro2-codename Client 2 - MacMini-codename Mouse - Razer Basilisk Reading through other websites and1 point

I think their indication, even right smack dab on the front page that they support Linux is misleading. What if I didn't know it doesn't work on Wayland and I purchased it? They really should make that clear to the users before purchasing. Kind of sus to me.1 point

I don't know at what point this issue started exhibiting itself, but for the longest time I thought it was some combination of Little Snitch rules and the iCloud Private Relay. But I uninstalled Little Snitch and disabled the Private Relay feature, and this issue didn't go away. So I reinstalled Little Snitch and told it to block 172.0.0.0/8 addresses, and that resolved my issue. You see, I created a different thread about this a month ago, but my Windows 10 server has several virtual network adapters, and Synergy recognizes all of them, for some reason (but no IPv6...?). And while my mac1 point

It's an issue with RC2, I reset Synergy on both, reinstalled RC1, rebooted both, configured them, and now I'm back up and running again. I might try and reproduce the issue with RC2 again this evening just to confirm I have the same problem come back.1 point

RC2 is broken for me as well. Win11 server, Ubuntu 22.04 client. The connection is working but the mouse is "invisible" (actual pointer on Ubuntu doesn't move but I can see when my mouse is moving over buttons that highlight. Also, the keyboard isn't working. I've reset Synergy on both machines, no change.1 point

Hello! I am a long time Synergy user. Been away for a bit though. I just acquired a 2017 Macbook Intel i5 running Ventura 13.4.1 and I am attempting to install Synergy 3 on it an my Newer 2019 Macbook Intel i7 running Ventura 13.4.1. I am getting an error stating... You can't open the application "Synergy.app" because this application is not supported on this mac. Any help would be great!1 point

Hi, for Windows: I solved this problem by uninstalling Synergy. I also had to delete the Synergy folders in C:\ProgramData\Synergy, C:\User\***your user***\AppData\Roaming\Synergy and C:\Progam Files\Synergy. (first 2 are hidden folders) Somehow an older version saved the former IP Address in one of the config files. Nebst 127.0.0.1 there was also the old IP Address of my computer stored. (e.g.: locale.json in ProgramData\config\) After reboot and new install it worked. wbr1 point

Hi there, I'm using Synergy 3 Beta, v3.0.70.34-beta, and I don't know where to post ideas, so I hope i'm in the right place. And sorry for my bad english. Ideas: 1 - Profiles, with different screen positions, since some computers can be notebooks and may change position, or with my situation where the main computer changes (more on that later) 2 - Use keyboard/mouse from any of the configured computers 3 - Keep computers from sleep, when keyboard/mouse is in use So, explaining... Hey, Long time user of Synergy, an early adopter even, but first time here in the forum. Just upgraded to Synergy 3 as I was prompted to download the latest version, which is something I have done for years. So years later, and how many years is making me feel a tad old, and a bit nostalgic, I am puzzled. I have an number of computers dotted around, and currently have two pairs working together in two locations, which is quite conservative, for me. In the past this was not an issue Synergy worked with the paired computers, I sat down it was like I had one machine, I didn't have t1 point

I get the same message. Noticed that Ventura is not supported. They should have made that clearer on their website, as most mac users are likely to be using the latest OS. I need to figure out how to retrieve the previous version.1 point

Yep running pop os in wayland (I have to use wayland because a lot of my software that I need (3D tools, prusa slicer etc) don’t work at a decent speed in x) and I have the same issue can see the mouse move over and then the mouse is invisible but I can mouse over things and see them highlight and I can click but no pointer is visible.1 point

Sorry to bring an old thread back from the grave - having a tough time in 2023 trying to sort out a way to run this on either a samsung phone with Dex, or a chromebook. Hello. I am using beta versions of MacOS Monterrey, 12.3 and iPadOS 15.4 with Universal Control, that basically works like Synergy with Apple Devices, but when combining Synergy with Universal Control, it doesn't work. I have my work Windows laptop as the server, and my Mac is the client. Everything with Synergy works fine. If I use the touchpad on my Mac, I can seamlessly move my mouse to my iPad, but when using the mouse from my Windows laptop, it just gets stuck at the side. So I guess my question is if Synergy is working on supporting control through Universal Control, or if it1 point

https://github.com/input-leap/input-leap/pull/1524 Not Synergy, but initial support is being drafted for input-leap, which is a fork of Synergy. I imagine since it's open source Synergy will get it eventually to. If I had to estimate I'd say we're still months away from an initial release just due to the sheer number of projects that are touched by these changes. The really tech savvy could hypothetically build all of these components with the patches and run it today on Wayland, in theory, but I do not recommend it at all. There's plenty of bugs, and glitches, but it's c1 point

Can Synergy keep the "other" screens awake? Like sometimes I'm working on one screen but may have a monitoring graph or document on another screen that I won't want to go to sleep, even though I'm not over there. But I'm happy for all monitors to go to sleep if I'm not around (similarly could they all wake when one wakes). is there way to sync "activity" across all machines? Nevermind, I fixed it myself. I'm running the client for my wife's computer inside a child process, capturing the stdout from synergyc and when her mouse enters the screen, I focus the window that synergy is running in (which sits off-screen so it's hidden). That's what it took to workaround this bug - simply having the window focused that synergyc.exe is running in will make the mouse cursor disappear when her mouse leaves the media computer. I noticed that, and then figured if I could capture the mouse entering and leaving, and auto-focus that window (using nircmd), it should work, and it di1 point

I want to control my Mac Mini from my Windows desktop. On my MacBook I have keybindings setup in Karabiner-Elements to remap keys to work more like Windows, and I'd like the same thing to happen on my Mac Mini when I control it via Synergy. However Karabiner-Elements modifies inputs on the driver level, therefore if Synergy presented itself as a keyboard then it could work. This would be a massive improvement as many people use remapping software on OSX and Synergy flat out doesn't work with them.1 point

Had exactly the same problem on all clients, so I did powercfg /REQUESTSOVERRIDE process synergy-core.exe display system from elevated command prompt on every client machine and it took care of it.1 point

It takes a little work, but it is possible to use Synergy over VPN without split-tunneling. Here is what I did. 1) Register yourself a free (or paid if you don't want 30-day nags) dynamic DNS address (DDNS) from a place like dynDNS or no-ip 2) Register for the Pro version of Synergy to get that sweet, sweet SSL security. You're going to be opening some pin holes, so best to keep the connection secure while in transit 3) Select a non-default port for Synergy to use - again security precaution From you home network router: 4) Create a DHCP reservation or assign a static IP for your s1 point
