  1. not sure when wayland support is planned, but linux is moving pretty fast in that direction. Doesn't effect me at the moment, but I'm sure my next upgrade will see wayland on my computer either alone or alongside X. Either way X is clearly on its way out.

  2. I look at comments like, "if you want Synergy, you need to switch to Xorg" to being equivalent to, "you must run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode". The new product has been out for nearly a decade, is widely adopted, and has become the default for a number of popular distributions. I understand there are engineering challenges, but it also helps to actually work on the problem instead of shipping new commercial features. The audience for Synergy are primarily power users, many of whom use Linux. If you won't support Wayland, it's almost as like Linux support is itself bec

  3. Hi there! The issue you have described happens when you have a version mismatch of Synergy 1.14.2 and another version. Please update Synergy on all your computers to the same version and the issue will be resolved.

  4. I'd be more than happy if Symless came out with a separate "enhanced edition" that includes Wayland support and I would happily auy another license for it. I bought the previous license quite long ago and I got more than my money's worth from it.

  5. I just went Fedora 35->36 and had a bit of a panic when it defaulted to Wayland and Synergy failed to run. Just adding another +1 for a double paid up user, waiting patiently.

  6. Hello. I am using beta versions of MacOS Monterrey, 12.3 and iPadOS 15.4 with Universal Control, that basically works like Synergy with Apple Devices, but when combining Synergy with Universal Control, it doesn't work. I have my work Windows laptop as the server, and my Mac is the client. Everything with Synergy works fine. If I use the touchpad on my Mac, I can seamlessly move my mouse to my iPad, but when using the mouse from my Windows laptop, it just gets stuck at the side. So I guess my question is if Synergy is working on supporting control through Universal Control, or if it

  7. Toxic? no. Bittered ? maybe? But why ? This feature has been long waited by many people, and it was even promised by Symless. And all of a sudden, no news, no feedback, closing ,the github issue, parking the users in a no-exit dead end, not replying to the support opened, or even preventing submitting feedback about that. If they don't want to do it for whatever reasons, fine, but then they should be responsible and have a clear statement about it. And clearly spot to Linux users at purchase their product does not supporting Wayland, thus not working on modern Linux DEs.

  8. Why is the thread locked on github? How do we get some momentum on getting wayland supported/working?

  9. I've had to stop using Synergy because it doesn't support any recent mainstream Linux distribution releases unless you break them by downgrading to xorg. I'm not sure how this isn't top priority.

  10. Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that I really like Synergy (I'm an early adopter) but I haven't been able to use it for quite a while because of Wayland (at least since Feb 2021) so I haven't been able to use my 2nd laptop's screen while I work. I'm happy to wait and I'm confident that you guys will get it done at some point.

  11. I can copy and paste text from server to client, but i cannot copy and paste any file whatsoever not even a small jpeg, and drag drop does not work at all. I set the file size for clipboard sharing to the max does nothing. I am using a wired connection between client and server, but when i was using a wifi connection it also did not work. Is this feature disabled?

  12. 1.14.2 has SUCKED for me. Modifier keys stopped working almost altogether β€” even the shift key has been a bit unpredictable β€” which of course has affected switching spaces. The clipboard on the client has also refused to copy even when driving things from the built-in keyboard & trackpad; I had to quit Synergy just to be able to copy and paste something. Symless, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, for the love of Pete, keep at least one or two previous minor versions available for download on the downloads page so that when bugs crop up in new versions (as they inevitably will), people have a quic

  13. ^bump very similar setup here. i make music on my macbook, game on my desktop. I suspect it will work if i use the mac as the mouse / keyboard server, but that means introducing lag into the gaming setup. I am going to test it anyway. maybe with a wired connection it wont be so bad but it means the mac will have to be docked in order for me to use the PC at all (or start fumbling with cables i suppose) -Ill mention here that sidecar does work with synergy. If i want to extend my mac display with sidecar I can move the synergy mouse (controlled by the PC) to the ipad no problem.

  14. What is the state of Wayland support? It was promised in 2017. now it'll be 2023. next month. This is an essential feature! What is going on?

  18. 😑 Pretty disgusting to see that users have actively been asking for Wayland support in a paid software package since 2015 and it still has yet to materialize in a release. With 22.04 LTS going default wayland and joining the RPMs its ludicrous to expect users to fall back on xorg still.

  19. Same here. Two MacBook Pro, Monterey 12.2.1. No way to bring up mission control or switch spaces on the client using default keystrokes. No other hack seems to work.

  20. 2022, this has yet to be resolved. Cursor speed on different resolution displays are different, this is very annoying.

  21. @Kimberly that worked for me thanks heaps! πŸ˜€ Minor suggestion, for future versions where there's the possibility of backwards compatibility issues, could the syergy server log the fact that the connecting client may have issues and should be upgraded? I spent a good hour thinking it was network connectivity issue given the log messages I was seeing in the debug1 level logs.

  22. FYI in addition to Fedora and RHEL, the upcoming Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is also now switching to Wayland.

  23. A message to the developers: I saw in your issues page where the lack complaints from licensed users (as opposed to Github users) makes this look like a low priority issue to you. As a licensed user, and as a software developer, I say that's like knowing your toilet is plugged but not grabbing the plunger and doing something about it until your 4 year old poops and floods it out. A bit vivid, I know, but I need the point to be clear. You know Wayland is the next target for GUI services. You should know Wayland is reasonably mature at this point. Is there still any good reason to keep dragging

  24. Hi here! Visiting from the Wayland support for Linux client and server GitHub issue. Just want to voice in my request for this feature too so that Synergy can support most of the recent releases to the more modern Linux distros out there. Thanks so much!

  25. Also, you can use "Scroll Lock" to temporarily tell Synergy to not switch screens while playing.

  26. Finally pushed up from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to 22.04 LTS and ran into this. Have to say I'm somewhat disappointed that this is a 9 year issue without very erratic communication from Symless.

  27. Once you've switched to one of the free forks that get the job done - why would you go back to Synergy and "fork over" money for it?
    1 point
  28. I honestly don't blame anyone at Symless for not replying, most comments I've seen on the matter are seriously toxic. In the end it has taken active development by Peter Hutterer (one of the most seasoned input developers in Linux) and a new protocol to get it working.

  29. Since 3.0.62.37 I've lost the ability to lock my cursor to current computer using scroll-lock. Sadly, I can't add a hotkey for this feature contrary to what is in the release notes. Although I choose the Lock cursor to the current computer action it still requires that I define to which single computer it will lock to as if it should be named Lock cursor to a specific computer. Sadly despite defining separate hotkeys for all my computers each hotkey locks my mouse to my the same computer. It's always my first client, left topmost, and alphabetically first one.

  30. Same here. It started last week and now it's totally unpredictable. It's infuriating. I've updated both to 1.14.6 versions and I'm running two macs on MacOS 12.6.1 and neither have been updated recently. I have also rebooted them, the wifi router... everything. And the mouse is a perfectly functioning 3 month old magic mouse. Nothing seems to solve the problem and I am definitely not holding any key down and I can't even see anything wrong with the logs. Has anyone found a way to solve this?

  31. So I've read a few posts on this forum with similar topics to mine but haven't come across an answer so any help would be appreciated. I have two windows computers, one is a personal desktop and the other is my work laptop. I'm trying to connect my work laptop to my server (desktop). This normally works fine, but when I turn on my AnyConnect VPN for accessing company resources I no longer can connect over LAN to my desktop. I've thought this through and my best option would be to connect over WAN. I did not set up any fancy DNS or anything like that I've just port forwarded the synergy port 24

  32. It's just unbelievable this is still not implemented after a decade. Wayland is now the default on Ubuntu 22.x Please add support for Wayland, you can't force user to use xorg to have synergy working. Also, since the synergy people say it's not priority because people report on github rather than their support system, then let's request this to their support system to make things move.

  33. Sad. Latest update to Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS breaks synergy, siting wayland. Have a feeling as more and more LTS'ers (who want a stable, as largely unmodified work environment as possible) update that this will become a larger pain-point. Synergy 3 won't be out till next year, so that will not offer any relief.

  34. I want to update this thread: Copy and paste functionality is listed as a main feature in the Synergy Ultimate package that was newly introduced, so it wouldn't make since for the feature to be disabled and if it's not disabled why isn't it working? Note: From my understanding Synergy Pro and Synergy Ultimate are basically the same aside from the maintenance license so the copy and paste function should work in Synergy Pro if i'm not mistaken?

  37. @Nando CM I have run into that problem in the past (specifically Ctrl key would sometimes act as if it was "held down" on the client"). I found that tapping the physical Ctrl key on the client machine would usually fix this. But that was in the past. It could be a different bug now. I think it may have also had to do with changing screens while the key was still held down, but again, it's been a long time.

  38. Just updated both of my systems (mac & windows 10 server) to 1.14.3 and the CTRL+Arrow Key navigation for Mission Control/desktop navigation are working for me again.

  39. I FIGURED THIS OUT! At least partially. This happens on one of my clients 100% of the time when holding down a keyboard key, including backspace/delete, arrow keys, etc. This is 100% repeatable for one of my systems, though I have no idea why it's not repeatable on my second client. But at least I now have the trigger. Can someone else who is experiencing this issue please confirm on your own system if it's the same?

  40. Thanks Eli πŸ˜€ It's quite normal for Macs to use Displayport, however, I believe they function better through Thunderbolt 3/4. Also Sudha, let me know if you need help with the international keyboard setup. Happy to help if you still need itπŸ˜€

  44. I also have this issue. Copy/Paste of files between computers doesn't work. From searching around it looks like this has been an issue since at least 2017 - @symless are you even trying to fix this? If I can't transfer files easily via copy/paste with synergy it's kinda pointless.

  47. Hi @Alsatian I still think I got lucky, and I'm no expert, but I'll try to explain what I did better so that you might try if it works: In my Mac the address is 192.168.1.65, And in my PC I have 4 addresses, one is in bold, meaning is the one recommended that you use, but the 3rd number does not match the Mac Ip Address. My Mac has a XXX.XXX.1.65, and my PC IP address thats is recommended for the connection is XXX.XXX.137.1. As you can see in the first image, Synergy is configured with the recommended address but is not connecting. But there is another address (marked

  49. I have a office laptop that is a synergy slave and a home desktop is my synergy master. Both are connected to the same network... everything is fine. When I connect to my work VPN, (Cisco anyconnect) synergy client and server loses connectivity. I tried enabling split tunneling under cisco anyconnect options but it still doesnt work. so can I please request synergy to come up with a feature such that, even when a client connects to a different network synergy should still work. I am force to move to KVM with messy cables dangling around my table. Ex: Pushbullet notification mi

  50. Hi, I run a similar setup without problems on this area, are you able to ping from the laptop your desktop private ip while connected to the VPN? doing a traceroute from the laptop to the desktop private ip should be helpful for you to understand if your laptop reach the PC via the LAN/WLAN not the WAN. if ping is not successful, then its very likely your work VPN do not allow the split tunneling, therefore, forcing all of your work laptop to the corporate network.
