not sure when wayland support is planned, but linux is moving pretty fast in that direction. Doesn't effect me at the moment, but I'm sure my next upgrade will see wayland on my computer either alone or alongside X. Either way X is clearly on its way out.7 points

I look at comments like, "if you want Synergy, you need to switch to Xorg" to being equivalent to, "you must run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode". The new product has been out for nearly a decade, is widely adopted, and has become the default for a number of popular distributions. I understand there are engineering challenges, but it also helps to actually work on the problem instead of shipping new commercial features. The audience for Synergy are primarily power users, many of whom use Linux. If you won't support Wayland, it's almost as like Linux support is itself bec5 points

Amazing news everyone! Synergy 3 RC1 is now available to download! https://symless.com/synergy/download4 points

Why is the thread locked on github? How do we get some momentum on getting wayland supported/working?4 points

I'd be more than happy if Symless came out with a separate "enhanced edition" that includes Wayland support and I would happily auy another license for it. I bought the previous license quite long ago and I got more than my money's worth from it.4 points

I just went Fedora 35->36 and had a bit of a panic when it defaulted to Wayland and Synergy failed to run. Just adding another +1 for a double paid up user, waiting patiently.4 points

I have a computer that is connected to the network via wired Ethernet + Wi-Fi. In Synergy 3 beta on the server machine, I see 2 IP addresses, and the Wi-Fi address happens to be listed first. I am finding that client machines can use the slower connection by default even if from the client machine, the server is added manually by IP address (matching the wired connection). In the simplified interface, it's a little unclear how this works. I'd like a way for: 1) the server machine to allow specifying the default interface broadcast for discovery by clients 2) the client machine t3 points

Toxic? no. Bittered ? maybe? But why ? This feature has been long waited by many people, and it was even promised by Symless. And all of a sudden, no news, no feedback, closing ,the github issue, parking the users in a no-exit dead end, not replying to the support opened, or even preventing submitting feedback about that. If they don't want to do it for whatever reasons, fine, but then they should be responsible and have a clear statement about it. And clearly spot to Linux users at purchase their product does not supporting Wayland, thus not working on modern Linux DEs.3 points

I've had to stop using Synergy because it doesn't support any recent mainstream Linux distribution releases unless you break them by downgrading to xorg. I'm not sure how this isn't top priority.3 points

I know it's an annoying thing to add sometimes but it's still a really useful thing, especially for those of us who dislike white backgrounds..3 points

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that I really like Synergy (I'm an early adopter) but I haven't been able to use it for quite a while because of Wayland (at least since Feb 2021) so I haven't been able to use my 2nd laptop's screen while I work. I'm happy to wait and I'm confident that you guys will get it done at some point.3 points

I can copy and paste text from server to client, but i cannot copy and paste any file whatsoever not even a small jpeg, and drag drop does not work at all. I set the file size for clipboard sharing to the max does nothing. I am using a wired connection between client and server, but when i was using a wifi connection it also did not work. Is this feature disabled?3 points

Finally pushed up from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to 22.04 LTS and ran into this. Have to say I'm somewhat disappointed that this is a 9 year issue without very erratic communication from Symless.2 points

Hello. I am using beta versions of MacOS Monterrey, 12.3 and iPadOS 15.4 with Universal Control, that basically works like Synergy with Apple Devices, but when combining Synergy with Universal Control, it doesn't work. I have my work Windows laptop as the server, and my Mac is the client. Everything with Synergy works fine. If I use the touchpad on my Mac, I can seamlessly move my mouse to my iPad, but when using the mouse from my Windows laptop, it just gets stuck at the side. So I guess my question is if Synergy is working on supporting control through Universal Control, or if it2 points

^bump very similar setup here. i make music on my macbook, game on my desktop. I suspect it will work if i use the mac as the mouse / keyboard server, but that means introducing lag into the gaming setup. I am going to test it anyway. maybe with a wired connection it wont be so bad but it means the mac will have to be docked in order for me to use the PC at all (or start fumbling with cables i suppose) -Ill mention here that sidecar does work with synergy. If i want to extend my mac display with sidecar I can move the synergy mouse (controlled by the PC) to the ipad no problem.2 points

What is the state of Wayland support? It was promised in 2017. now it'll be 2023. next month. This is an essential feature! What is going on?2 points

I saw several topics about wanting to launch the client (synergyc) on MacOS before the login screen just after booting. I am not sure if others have since found solutions but it seemed that there were issues with this after certain versions of MacOS. My purpose posting this is just to let the forum know that I got this to work on Monterey at time of posting and can answer questions if anybody wants to know more. Here is how I did it: Run the server (I think it is synergys) on Windows. I use win10 and am using the GUI. Write and make executable a shell script that starts the c2 points

Hello, I just upgraded to Synergy 3 in hopes they fixed gestures on my second macbook. No luck :( It obviously works well on my main macbook but it would be nice if I could use my trackpad to do a 3-finger swipe up to show all apps on my second mac. Also, the option button on my mac bluetooth keyboard doesn't work either. I have to use the keyboard on my second mac to get it to work.1 point

Since 3.0.62.37 I've lost the ability to lock my cursor to current computer using scroll-lock. Sadly, I can't add a hotkey for this feature contrary to what is in the release notes. Although I choose the Lock cursor to the current computer action it still requires that I define to which single computer it will lock to as if it should be named Lock cursor to a specific computer. Sadly despite defining separate hotkeys for all my computers each hotkey locks my mouse to my the same computer. It's always my first client, left topmost, and alphabetically first one.1 point

Yep running pop os in wayland (I have to use wayland because a lot of my software that I need (3D tools, prusa slicer etc) don’t work at a decent speed in x) and I have the same issue can see the mouse move over and then the mouse is invisible but I can mouse over things and see them highlight and I can click but no pointer is visible.1 point

Sorry to bring an old thread back from the grave - having a tough time in 2023 trying to sort out a way to run this on either a samsung phone with Dex, or a chromebook. Seems like neither is an option at this point, but I figured can't hurt - anyone having any luck here? The current version available on github connects to a server, but doesn't seem to actually interact with the device1 point

Hi Eli, This started happening to me after my laptop upgraded to Win 11. The workaround for me is to restart Synergy by either clicking the Apply button or Stop then Start. I usually only have to do that on the client PC, but sometimes I have to do both the client and the server to get it working again. It'll eventually break again so it's not a great long term solution, but it gets the job done for now.1 point

STILL HAPPENING! Now (moved server over to Linux) : Left (client) MacOS 12.6 MBP M1 Middle (client) MacOS 12.6 MBP M1 Right (server) Ubuntu 22.04 Ryzen 7 32 GB RAM NVMe SSD, AMD GPU (Radeon) I don't know if it was Synergy client doing it or not - but I kept getting cases when Linux was the client (on the right) that CTRL, or ALT or SHIFT keys were stuck ON and couldn't be "unstuck" (no sticky keys is NOT enabled in Accessibility) - so I made the Linux box the server - but now I'm getting it jumping back to the Linux machine from the middle MacOS client...1 point

A critical step is missing in the install guide. You need to click "Start" button on Synergy server configuration window to start it. Otherwise, your Synergy client can't connect to it, and you see timeout issue on your client.1 point

I honestly don't blame anyone at Symless for not replying, most comments I've seen on the matter are seriously toxic. In the end it has taken active development by Peter Hutterer (one of the most seasoned input developers in Linux) and a new protocol to get it working.1 point

Same here. It started last week and now it's totally unpredictable. It's infuriating. I've updated both to 1.14.6 versions and I'm running two macs on MacOS 12.6.1 and neither have been updated recently. I have also rebooted them, the wifi router... everything. And the mouse is a perfectly functioning 3 month old magic mouse. Nothing seems to solve the problem and I am definitely not holding any key down and I can't even see anything wrong with the logs. Has anyone found a way to solve this?1 point

First, if you haven't, they did request that bugs be reported via support ticket. https://symless.com/synergy/contact-support?topic=Synergy+3+Alpha Second, I reported this bug (or at least related) to them on 10/14 and have yet to hear anything. Further, v3.0.63.0 has now come out and the bug is still present. Finally, at least in my case, position and name do not seem to be relevant. I only have two machines. It'll never lock the mouse to the host computer, and will lock it to the client. It doesn't matter which is the host.1 point

Just wanted to let you know the android and Samsung Dex would still be great additions. I realize this thread started over 5 years ago but both android & Samsung have continued to move into daily drivers for so many people. Even if it doesn't have the copy & paste features initially, just the ability to share the mouse and keyboard would be great!1 point

Nothing to report on alpha yet, haven't even got it on the test machines. My street version is working well on the Mac M1s and Beelink/Courtneys that I have on the LG Quad 43". Adding a mimo monitor and a server with 2 monitors today. Gotta get my test machines going.1 point

Thanks Nick! Synergy is working pretty well and I have some test machines that I will set up the alpha on. My setup is a little different, I am using LG Quad monitors with Windows but it seems to be working the 4 hdmi inputs on each of these monitors.1 point

I use default key binding ScrollLock to lock my mouse to current computer and when I'm on my gaming one it locks perfectly.1 point

It's just unbelievable this is still not implemented after a decade. Wayland is now the default on Ubuntu 22.x Please add support for Wayland, you can't force user to use xorg to have synergy working. Also, since the synergy people say it's not priority because people report on github rather than their support system, then let's request this to their support system to make things move.1 point

I want to update this thread: Copy and paste functionality is listed as a main feature in the Synergy Ultimate package that was newly introduced, so it wouldn't make since for the feature to be disabled and if it's not disabled why isn't it working? Note: From my understanding Synergy Pro and Synergy Ultimate are basically the same aside from the maintenance license so the copy and paste function should work in Synergy Pro if i'm not mistaken?1 point

I have this issue as well. I have a Windows 11 server and a MacbookPro Intel client. Previous Synergy versions worked well, but version 1.14.4 lags quite a lot. I have 300+Mb upload and download on wireless so I don't believe wireless is the issue. However, I have a network adapter ordered and will try wired when I can. In the meantime, what can we do to mitigate the issue? I've started using the Mac directly now since the lag is so bad. Why is version 1.14 so much worse than previous versions? Please advise.1 point

I gave up, they don’t even answer here or emails. I opted to stay with v2 since I move from PC to PC (or Mac) and I need to use different keyboards/mouse when I do. I also have my 2 laptops I use when I work remotely on same account, I just don’t position them next to my PCs (free float, non-snap in grid style) and it’s like if I had 2 separate accounts. v1 and their “grid” style positioning , and only having 1 server didn’t work out for nor isn’t what made me buy v2. I was hoping v3 was released to try it out, but never got response. I’m surprised they even have the domain alive and work1 point

It has to do with an outdated dependency. Supposedly it'll be fixed whenever the next update comes out. No ETA has been provided unfortunately.1 point

This has been happening to me basically since I bought the product 2021-01-18 as well. Recently I spent quite a few hours finally trying to figure out what is going on. Initially I thought something must be wrong with my primary system since it locks up completely every time this happens. I downloaded a program called "LatencyMon" that can measure how long the system spends in interrupt routines from drivers but these system freezes were never detected by it. Eventually I saw in task manager that my last core shoots up to 100% usage during the few seconds while the system is locked1 point

At this point, I don't think he actually has a team working on the product. I think he is on his own now, and working on it during his off hours of any employment he may have.1 point

I'm having this same problem configuring a layout with a portrait monitor to the left of a landscape one. Synergy is grabbing the top of the portrait monitor to enter the client configured above it, however the real-world orientation is the client monitor above the landscape one. I've tried a few of the solutions here without success. I'm going to resort to the hotkey setup suggested. The ludicrous part of this is that it used to work just fine until I shuffled monitor cables around moving my desk. I've played with the monitor cables along with system and Synergy configurations tr1 point

Hi there! The issue you have described happens when you have a version mismatch of Synergy 1.14.2 and another version. Please update Synergy on all your computers to the same version and the issue will be resolved.1 point

I hate it, so I moved to other software already. The problem with Synergy is: on Windows. Whenever you move the mouse to other screen (1st -> 2nd , or 2nd-> 1st) , the cursor will appear on middle / center of 1st screen like half second. It's ok, but it's very anoying, and after 2 years already, they did not fix it. So, I moved away and right now I stick with other software already.1 point

to whomever this might concern: this can simply be solved by using pulseaudio system (it's *nix native, but has binaries for Windows and OS X AFAIK). server side can be configured by adding following line to default.pa (wherever it my be on your system, *nix default is at /etc/pulse/default.pa) load-module module-native-protocol-tcp auth-ip-acl=127.0.0.1;[column separated IPs or IP ranges] auth-anonymous=1 on server you can then list sinks with pactl list sinks and then tunnel the sound from client pactl load-module module-tunnel-sink "server=[IP OF SERVER] sink1 point

Nevermind, I fixed it myself. I'm running the client for my wife's computer inside a child process, capturing the stdout from synergyc and when her mouse enters the screen, I focus the window that synergy is running in (which sits off-screen so it's hidden). That's what it took to workaround this bug - simply having the window focused that synergyc.exe is running in will make the mouse cursor disappear when her mouse leaves the media computer. I noticed that, and then figured if I could capture the mouse entering and leaving, and auto-focus that window (using nircmd), it should work, and it di1 point

This took quite a bit of troubleshooting, and it's a bit of a hack. These settings assume you're using a Windows system as the server, and the Mac system is the client. What this will do to map your keys: Windows key 'control' will be 'command' on the Mac client Windows key 'Windows' will be the 'option key' on the Mac client Windows key 'alt' will be the 'control' key on the Mac client On Windows: Stop the Synergy service running in the background. Go to C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME HERE\AppData\Local\Symless\Synergy Edit the synergy.conf file as follow1 point

Hi, I run a similar setup without problems on this area, are you able to ping from the laptop your desktop private ip while connected to the VPN? doing a traceroute from the laptop to the desktop private ip should be helpful for you to understand if your laptop reach the PC via the LAN/WLAN not the WAN. if ping is not successful, then its very likely your work VPN do not allow the split tunneling, therefore, forcing all of your work laptop to the corporate network.1 point
