  1. not sure when wayland support is planned, but linux is moving pretty fast in that direction. Doesn't effect me at the moment, but I'm sure my next upgrade will see wayland on my computer either alone or alongside X. Either way X is clearly on its way out.

  2. A message to the developers: I saw in your issues page where the lack complaints from licensed users (as opposed to Github users) makes this look like a low priority issue to you. As a licensed user, and as a software developer, I say that's like knowing your toilet is plugged but not grabbing the plunger and doing something about it until your 4 year old poops and floods it out. A bit vivid, I know, but I need the point to be clear. You know Wayland is the next target for GUI services. You should know Wayland is reasonably mature at this point. Is there still any good reason to keep dragging

  3. Hi there! The issue you have described happens when you have a version mismatch of Synergy 1.14.2 and another version. Please update Synergy on all your computers to the same version and the issue will be resolved.

  4. Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that I really like Synergy (I'm an early adopter) but I haven't been able to use it for quite a while because of Wayland (at least since Feb 2021) so I haven't been able to use my 2nd laptop's screen while I work. I'm happy to wait and I'm confident that you guys will get it done at some point.

  5. I just went Fedora 35->36 and had a bit of a panic when it defaulted to Wayland and Synergy failed to run. Just adding another +1 for a double paid up user, waiting patiently.

  6. I can copy and paste text from server to client, but i cannot copy and paste any file whatsoever not even a small jpeg, and drag drop does not work at all. I set the file size for clipboard sharing to the max does nothing. I am using a wired connection between client and server, but when i was using a wifi connection it also did not work. Is this feature disabled?

  7. 1.14.2 has SUCKED for me. Modifier keys stopped working almost altogether — even the shift key has been a bit unpredictable — which of course has affected switching spaces. The clipboard on the client has also refused to copy even when driving things from the built-in keyboard & trackpad; I had to quit Synergy just to be able to copy and paste something. Symless, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, for the love of Pete, keep at least one or two previous minor versions available for download on the downloads page so that when bugs crop up in new versions (as they inevitably will), people have a quic

  8. Hi here! Visiting from the Wayland support for Linux client and server GitHub issue. Just want to voice in my request for this feature too so that Synergy can support most of the recent releases to the more modern Linux distros out there. Thanks so much!

  9. Hello. I am using beta versions of MacOS Monterrey, 12.3 and iPadOS 15.4 with Universal Control, that basically works like Synergy with Apple Devices, but when combining Synergy with Universal Control, it doesn't work. I have my work Windows laptop as the server, and my Mac is the client. Everything with Synergy works fine. If I use the touchpad on my Mac, I can seamlessly move my mouse to my iPad, but when using the mouse from my Windows laptop, it just gets stuck at the side. So I guess my question is if Synergy is working on supporting control through Universal Control, or if it

  10. At this point, I don't think he actually has a team working on the product. I think he is on his own now, and working on it during his off hours of any employment he may have.

  11. 😡 Pretty disgusting to see that users have actively been asking for Wayland support in a paid software package since 2015 and it still has yet to materialize in a release. With 22.04 LTS going default wayland and joining the RPMs its ludicrous to expect users to fall back on xorg still.

  12. Same here. Two MacBook Pro, Monterey 12.2.1. No way to bring up mission control or switch spaces on the client using default keystrokes. No other hack seems to work.

  13. 2022, this has yet to be resolved. Cursor speed on different resolution displays are different, this is very annoying.

  14. @Kimberly that worked for me thanks heaps! 😀 Minor suggestion, for future versions where there's the possibility of backwards compatibility issues, could the syergy server log the fact that the connecting client may have issues and should be upgraded? I spent a good hour thinking it was network connectivity issue given the log messages I was seeing in the debug1 level logs.

  15. FYI in addition to Fedora and RHEL, the upcoming Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is also now switching to Wayland.

  20. So we're pushing 6+ years of knowing this was coming, and.... still aren't there?

  21. Sad. Latest update to Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS breaks synergy, siting wayland. Have a feeling as more and more LTS'ers (who want a stable, as largely unmodified work environment as possible) update that this will become a larger pain-point. Synergy 3 won't be out till next year, so that will not offer any relief.

  22. I want to update this thread: Copy and paste functionality is listed as a main feature in the Synergy Ultimate package that was newly introduced, so it wouldn't make since for the feature to be disabled and if it's not disabled why isn't it working? Note: From my understanding Synergy Pro and Synergy Ultimate are basically the same aside from the maintenance license so the copy and paste function should work in Synergy Pro if i'm not mistaken?

  23. Hi, I am running Synergy on a Linux server with a Windows 10 client connected. Server and client have the same keyboard layout selected (swiss-german). Entering the client screen results in this warning: WARNING: LANGUAGE_DEBUG Poll result 0 Entering any character on the client results in this warning: WARNING: ISO 639-2 code "gsw" is missed in table Obviously, the keyboard language cannot be detected or is not supported. I could workaround the "altgr"-issue more or less, but the way bigger problem is, that a lot of normal key-bindings (shift+ combinations) are n

  24. Hey! Great! Now at least I have a solution that will allow me to simply start my Mint PC. And then I will be able to control it from my Windows PC. I won't have to put the physical Mint keyboard an mouse on my desk to start Synergy. Thanks for your help. Have a nice day.

  26. Just updated both of my systems (mac & windows 10 server) to 1.14.3 and the CTRL+Arrow Key navigation for Mission Control/desktop navigation are working for me again.

  27. I FIGURED THIS OUT! At least partially. This happens on one of my clients 100% of the time when holding down a keyboard key, including backspace/delete, arrow keys, etc. This is 100% repeatable for one of my systems, though I have no idea why it's not repeatable on my second client. But at least I now have the trigger. Can someone else who is experiencing this issue please confirm on your own system if it's the same?

  28. I don't have access to my pixelbook right now, I should in a couple of weeks! Once I do I will get you the logs. ChromeOS uses Debian 11 in a container, it allows you to run Linux apps along side android apps and the Chrome Web browser. It's actually pretty slick and gives a lot of flexibility. I don't know for sure, but am assuming the issue is chromeos not allowing an app from the container to control the mouse & keyboard.

  29. I saw several topics about wanting to launch the client (synergyc) on MacOS before the login screen just after booting. I am not sure if others have since found solutions but it seemed that there were issues with this after certain versions of MacOS. My purpose posting this is just to let the forum know that I got this to work on Monterey at time of posting and can answer questions if anybody wants to know more. Here is how I did it: Run the server (I think it is synergys) on Windows. I use win10 and am using the GUI. Write and make executable a shell script that starts the c

  30. Hello You are missing an option from the menu to set it to auto-start the server. Unless you mean the option to use auto-config to do so. this is poorly explained and written in the app. Please advise how to auto-start the server on macOS Catalina and BigSur.

  32. It generally seems to be better for me now - Synergy 1.14.3-stable on Monterey 12.2.1(Intel Mac). Occassionally I seem to have a synching fit, and everything freezes for a moment, but then comes back. My "server" and client are on the same lan segment (same ethernet switch), so it is not a network issue.

  33. I struggled with this VPN set up Jonathan Sparks suggested however I did get it working. Follow process to use Dynamic Dns if you want, I don't think its required. If you are having issues it's probably the port you selected. VPN or firewall might have the Dynamic / Private port range turned off. You might have to pick a port that is "Techinically" assigned to other services if you was using them or calling on them. For me it was definately a port issue. I ended up using port 8080 knowing it will be hard for vpn services to block that port without impacting web services.

  34. I opened up a service ticket and this was resolved for me. Resolution: Make sure ALL versions of Synergy on each client/server are upgraded to 1.14.2 and it will resolve this issue.

  37. Yeah I've had synergy 1 and 2 licences for ages. I just use barrier now as synergy has no benefit over barrier. Even then, I've generally stopped using it all together as I've moved over to arch and wayland on my laptop and desktop. If either got Wayland working it would be game changer. Even better if it's the one I actually paid money for....

  38. Unfortunately, while 1.14.2 solved the original issue of the Shift key not working inside of a Microsoft Remote Desktop Session, the problem with the f-keys is a known issue in this version. It seems to be related to a change we've made in one of the macOS APIs we use. That change was made essentially because the old API is currently deprecated by Apple. We are currently looking for a solution and hopefully this will be fixed in the next release of Synergy 1.

  39. I am running PC as server and macOS as a client. I use RDP on the Mac and with version 1.14.2 the shift and control keys work in RDP now. Problem is that my F keys stopped working on macOS and I used them to switch between my macOS desktop and the RDP client.

  40. I also tried at home to connect my MacBook to a windows 10 server and that also worked perfectly. So the problem has to be local to my windows machine! But I don’t know how to fix it - disabling the windows defender completely doesn’t work. Any help is appreciated!

  41. Hi @Malaguti, Our internal tests seem to indicate that everything should be working as expected on Windows 11 and macOS Monterey, even though Synergy is not yet "officially" supported on those Operating Systems. Would you mind contacting support directly? They might be able to assist you in solving this issue. There are a few different options, as detailed here: https://forums.symless.com/topic/6227-read-first-need-help-with-synergy/ Thanks, Francisco

  43. @Nick Bolton any updates in this feature? I see this was planned in 2018 but it's still not around. It would be incredible helpful not to have to plug in a keyboard every time to log in.

  45. I just found a little bug I've been dealing with the last few weeks. Finally have a way to reproduce this: From time to time I notice that my shift key got "sticky". What this means is that whenever I use my mouse to click something, the shift key is pushed down simultaneously as if I would still hold down shift. This happens most of the time when I type/code very fast on my keyboard which got me thinking... Here's now a way to reproduce this bug: hold down left shift key additionally hold down right shift key now let go of left shift key let go of right

  48. Tango is correct, I've been able to do Synergy over VPN as long as the system isn't configured for exclusive mode on the VPN (ie tunnel ALL traffic). There are possibly ways to still manually add a new route for Synergy, but that varies by OS and depending on the VPN client may end up getting reset as soon as it detects it isn't the default gateway again.

  49. I have a office laptop that is a synergy slave and a home desktop is my synergy master. Both are connected to the same network... everything is fine. When I connect to my work VPN, (Cisco anyconnect) synergy client and server loses connectivity. I tried enabling split tunneling under cisco anyconnect options but it still doesnt work. so can I please request synergy to come up with a feature such that, even when a client connects to a different network synergy should still work. I am force to move to KVM with messy cables dangling around my table. Ex: Pushbullet notification mi

  50. Hi, I run a similar setup without problems on this area, are you able to ping from the laptop your desktop private ip while connected to the VPN? doing a traceroute from the laptop to the desktop private ip should be helpful for you to understand if your laptop reach the PC via the LAN/WLAN not the WAN. if ping is not successful, then its very likely your work VPN do not allow the split tunneling, therefore, forcing all of your work laptop to the corporate network.
