can use braces "[" and "]" in remote system

My server is Ubuntu 16.04 and my client Windows 8.1.

Synergy version 1.8.7-stable-9799e96 on both sides.

Problem:

When i try to type "[" or "]" on my Ubuntu (server) it doesn't show up for editing something in Windows 8.1. (e.g. emails)

Do i need some (manual?) changes in the server configuration?

Any help highly appreciated!
