Loss of "extra" mouse functions - roller, buttons 3, 4, etc.

I have diagnosed this down to a client/server issue.

If the server gets rebooted, the mouse "roller" and extra buttons (3, 4, etc) that control things like "previous page/back" on the web browser stop functioning.

Strangely enough, everything else works.

 

Stopping the software on both. Starting the server first, then the client fixes this.

 

Is this synchronization of capabilities something that can be fixed so I'm not doing a couple times per day?
