Large Clipboard Crash

Recommended Posts

This has been bugging me for a while across many versions of the software. Occasionally, when I copy something relatively large to the clipboard, a spreadsheet, a file, sometimes a screenshot will do it. If the mouse strays between systems... sometimes once, sometimes it takes several times, but with no intention of pasting on the other system, the system I copied the content FROM will get a Synergy crash. You have to be working actively back and forth, and it doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen quite frequently. The crash is never immediate, but takes about 20 seconds to 2 minutes, but it will happen. Usually when Win 7 copy strays over to a Win 7 or Win 10 system. Is there something I can change to keep this from happening? Thanks! Interesting, i have this exact problem from a windows server to a linux client and i assumed it was a windows -> linux issue.... I believe it is SSL encryption related.

I have a similar problem Ubuntu server and windows client. I mainly use the Windows client with Ubuntu running IRC and the like. Often any sort of clipboard activity will cause the client to silently disconnect. Rarely it will reconnect itself in a couple of minutes and complete a paste operation but most times it requires me to stop and start synergy.

Hey guys, Here is a proper bug report for this: Version: 1.7.4 and 1.7.5 Problem: Synergy server (windows) crashes when attempting to copy large clipboard to client (linux in my case, but seen by others in windows -> windows situations) Steps to reproduce: 1. Copy an image to the clipboard (print screen works fine) 2. Attempt to move to client screen - You may have to do this more than once, but generally its the first try 3. Observe server controls lock, PC still responds to OS overrides like ctrl-alt-del, but otherwise mouse and KB are non-responsive 4. Wait for synergy to crash and kb and mouse to unlock and resume function 5. PC restart or service restart required to get synergyd to work again Notes: in my case, my setup goes ________client2 __________^ server -> client (underscores used as forum removes whitespace in HTML) server is abeeson-lt3 (win7), client one is abeeson-dt3 (fedora) and client2 is abeeson-lt4 (win7) Log of crash: [2015-12-02T14:37:11] INFO: watchdog status: error [2015-12-02T14:37:14] INFO: starting server [2015-12-02T14:37:14] INFO: config file: C:/Users/abeeson/Documents/synergy.sgc [2015-12-02T14:37:14] INFO: log level: INFO [2015-12-02T14:37:14] INFO: service command updated [2015-12-02T14:37:14] INFO: starting new process [2015-12-02T14:37:14] INFO: activeDesktop:Default [2015-12-02T14:37:14] INFO: starting new process [2015-12-02T14:37:14] INFO: drag and drop enabled [2015-12-02T14:37:14] ERROR: failed to get desktop path, no drop target available, error=2 [2015-12-02T14:37:14] NOTE: started server, waiting for clients [2015-12-02T14:37:14] INFO: watchdog status: ok [2015-12-02T14:37:18] NOTE: accepted client connection [2015-12-02T14:37:18] INFO: accepted secure socket [2015-12-02T14:37:19] NOTE: client "abeeson-lt4" has connected [2015-12-02T14:37:37] NOTE: accepted client connection [2015-12-02T14:37:37] INFO: accepted secure socket [2015-12-02T14:37:38] NOTE: client "abeeson-dt3" has connected [2015-12-02T14:37:45] INFO: switch from "abeeson-lt3" to "abeeson-dt3" at 0,700 [2015-12-02T14:37:45] INFO: leaving screen [2015-12-02T14:37:45] INFO: bitmap: 1536x860 32 [2015-12-02T14:37:45] INFO: convert image from: depth=32 comp=3 [2015-12-02T14:37:45] INFO: screen "abeeson-lt3" updated clipboard 0 [2015-12-02T14:37:45] INFO: bitmap: 1536x860 32 [2015-12-02T14:37:45] INFO: convert image from: depth=32 comp=3 [2015-12-02T14:37:45] INFO: screen "abeeson-lt3" updated clipboard 1 [2015-12-02T14:37:46] INFO: switch from "abeeson-dt3" to "abeeson-lt4" at 409,1043 [2015-12-02T14:37:46] INFO: previous clipboard data has become invalid [2015-12-02T14:37:59] NOTE: client "ABEESON-LT4" has disconnected [2015-12-02T14:37:59] NOTE: accepted client connection [2015-12-02T14:37:59] INFO: accepted secure socket [2015-12-02T14:37:59] NOTE: client "abeeson-dt3" has disconnected [2015-12-02T14:37:59] INFO: switch from "abeeson-lt4" to "abeeson-dt3" at 414,0 [2015-12-02T14:37:59] INFO: previous clipboard data has become invalid [2015-12-02T14:38:12] INFO: switch from "abeeson-dt3" to "abeeson-lt4" at 411,1072 [2015-12-02T14:38:12] INFO: switch from "abeeson-lt4" to "abeeson-dt3" at 410,0 [2015-12-02T14:38:12] INFO: switch from "abeeson-dt3" to "abeeson-lt4" at 412,1067 [2015-12-02T14:38:12] INFO: jump from "abeeson-lt4" to "abeeson-lt3" at 800,450 [2015-12-02T14:38:12] INFO: entering screen [2015-12-02T14:38:14] WARNING: detected application not running, pid=29320 [2015-12-02T14:38:15] INFO: backing off, wait=2s, failures=1 [2015-12-02T14:38:17] INFO: service command updated

Just wanted to add another voice to this - my synergy-server machine is win7 and the client is win 10. Whenever i printscreen, synergy crashes. Took me a while to figure out what the problem was cause it waits until it tries to transfer the mouse to the client most of the time before the crash becomes evident. Have to clear the clipboard of image data and then restart the synergy service before it's operational again.

It doesn't matter for me which client or server configuration - I have 1 x Mac, 1 x Fedora, 1 x Ubuntu and 1 x Raspian and Synergy randomly crashes whenever I have something on the clipboard. It doesn't matter which system is the server, I have cycled through them all and even copying Linux-Linux caused it to crash. Steps to reproduce this error: 1. Download and install Synergy.

I can confirm this problem. Every time I copy slides in Powerpoint in Windows 7 and move my cursor over to my Fedora machine, then I have to restart my Synergy server instance.

I get something similar to this when I copy and paste somethign as small as a URL. I have a Windows 8.1 client connecting to my Ubuntu 14.04 server. I mouse to the Win8 client, right click a link in Firefox and "Copy Link Location", then I mouse to the Ubuntu server. The problem is it didn't put the URL in the clipboard and I can't paste it in Ubuntu but I also can not mouse back over to the Win8 client until I've restarted the server and wait a few seconds for it to reconnect. I also see a crash even with just a URL from firefox. (Linux server, windows client). Clipboard sharing this way has been unreliable for me for years. I keep hoping synergy-project will fix it.
