Leave cursor on the server screen and hence be active on the server application, while you use the mouse and keyboard on your client machine

Hi, I have a Windows server, an Ubuntu client, and Synergy v1. I would like to use my mouse and keyboard on the client device, while the application on my server still thinks there's a cursor and hence activity, on it. Is there way to do this?
