1.14.2 stable: Having an image in clipboard when moving between machines causes reconnection loop

Recommended Posts

1 server, 1 client setup. Synergy 1.14.2-stable-c6918b74 on both machines, Windows 10 Pro on both machines. Both machines are on a LAN. 64 MB clipboard size, though issue happens even with 3 MB clipboard size.

Having a image copied to clipboard will cause Synergy to get stuck in a disconnect/reconnect loop:

Only way to resolve that I've found is to clear the image from the clipboard (e.g. by copying text into it) and restarting both server and client.

Hi R_N,

Could you please share a copy of the debug1 and/or debug2 log? There may be some information the debug that will help resolve your issue.

Also, please feel free to open a support ticket if you prefer to share the logs privately (rather than in this public forum). https://symless.com/synergy/contact-support

Same or closely related

Synergy 1.14.3 stable

Mac 11.6.6 server | Mac 12.3.1 client

Clipboard with image is making systems almost unusable. Frequent disconnects, dialog on server about pasting from client (which takes a while). Clipboard is not actually updated consistently - while running to create debug log sometimes ended up with previous clipboard text in clipboard after copying an image on client.

Debug2 attached... synergy-debug2.log.1.logsynergy-debug21.log

Hi Dan,

Thank you for sending the logs over, could you try regenerating the TLS certificates (in Preferences) and see if that helps?

TLS did not seem to help (regen, stop/start server/client).

I did a Mac OS upgrade on the client (rather than a simple restart). Still no progress but things may have gotten worse.

I've generally been getting a lot (way too many?) Info: clipboard was updated log messages and these have continued.

Copying an image to the clipboard on client shows Pasting message on server AND shifts focus back to server. Pasting back on client gives and old text paste from many, many copies ago. Cpying/pasting text on server just showed a paste message on client. It seems that I can no longer copy/paste image content on client with Synergy. And copy/paste image on server, can't even move to client - try to move and get pasting message on server and focus returns server.

Positive note ... no more restarts in the logs, just odd copy/paste behavior.

regards,

Sorry that I didn't keep track of all my changes to debug this properly.

I jumped onto this thread based on my previous experience (last Synergy version) where I was seeing the spurious (annoying but not critical) pasting message on the server. I hadn't related it to the fact/possibility that this was happening when I had an image in the client (server also?) clipboard, but that made sense to me.

Last week I updated my server to the latest version and then updated the client, using that configuration extensively for the first time yesterday. And I struggled to use Synergy yesterday. Besides the spurious copying/pasting things were horrendously slow.

I returned to Server 1.14.0 today and all seems to work well. I haven't seen the spurious copy/paste since but expect it will return (in the annoying mode).

And it has returned (more than annoying). Copy image to server clipboard all ok. Copy image to client clipboard and we have issues. You're probably not going to believe this, but every other time I switch context to the client I get the paste and get returned to the server. The next time I can switch and work on the client. This happens switching with mouse (edge of screen) or shortcut keystroke.

OK, and now it is even more odd. I copied text on the server. Switched to client ... Pasting message on client! I think this happened more than once, but now, text in both clipboards, all seems well.

Sorry again that this isn't more precise.
