Special characters not working (ä, ö, FIN-layout)

As I too am forced to work from home from time to time, it's nice for me to be able to use my work laptop comfortably with my own desktop keyboard and mouse.

However, the special nordic characters, ä and ö to be precise, are not going through. Everything else seems to work just fine for now.

ö and ä are right next to L. They don't seems to do anything.

 

On a side note, interactive configuration doesn't seems to work if my user account name has, for example ä or ö in the name (which I have)

I had to save the configuration elsewhere and point to it manually.
