Seems like `synergy_1.11.1.stable_b58+55ec3105_ubuntu18_amd64.deb` does not seem to do anything.

Tried from the GUI (gdebi) and from the command line. Nuttin'

Nothing even gets to /var/log/apt/*.log

FYI, I have 1.10.0-stable-b2173efb installed (well, I stopped it before upgrade).

You're saying installation doesn't work? First step: try re-downloading (could be a corrupt package). You _are_ providing root credentials...

It does not seem to do anything.

When using the GUI, I don't even get the chance to provide sudo credentials.

When using the command line (sudo apt install), it does not seem to move much more, but at least I know it happens in a sudo environment.
