distinction between synergs.exe and synergyd.exe

As part of my recent upgrade to Windows 10, I did a minor point update to Synergy (latest 1.11.0 stable). Works fine, but I've noticed that there are two seperate 'synergy-related' processes running: synergys.exe and synergyd.exe.

Whats the difference between the two, and....should they both, in fact, be running?
