Server won't accept connections after reboot

Recommended Posts

I have a Synergy server and two clients. When I reboot the server, the clients can't connect because the server won't start.  When I look at the "Log" in the "Synergy 1 Pro" window, I see this pattern repeated over and over:

synergys.exe: no configuration available
[2019-11-07T05:55:43] ERROR: failed to launch, error: process immediately stopped
[2019-11-07T05:55:43] INFO: backing off, wait=10s, failures=5528
[2019-11-07T05:55:53] INFO: starting new process
[2019-11-07T05:55:53] INFO: activeDesktop:Default
[2019-11-07T05:55:53] INFO: starting new process
[2019-11-07T05:55:53] INFO: drag and drop enabled
synergys.exe: no configuration available

If I press "Apply", then the configuration is (re?) applied, the server starts, and clients immediately reconnect:

[2019-11-07T05:56:39] INFO: starting server
[2019-11-07T05:56:39] INFO: config file: C:/Users/MUSERNAME/AppData/Local/Temp/Synergy.l68868

Why is it necessary to manually apply the configuration every time the server restarts?

What does the "failed to get desktop path" error message mean? Is that why I drag-and-drop doesn't work?

  • 2 weeks later...

My client is Windows 10, and my servers are Windows Server 2016.  I'm using Synergy 1.10, but this issue has been a problem for a long time -- as long as I've been using the product.

I did open a support ticket, after I made this post. (Sorry -- it was only then that I saw something in the forums that said it's better to open support tickets. But I'm not sure what the forum is for, then?)  The response I got form the ticket was that this was a bug and will be addressed. I guess it's good news that the problem is known, but it's disappointing that it has existed for so long without a fix.
