Same as the original post about service not able to install. Install the Visual C++ 64-bit 2015 first solved it. I should have tried just running the msi without admin command promot and using msiexec /i synergy.msi but I neglected to do the default installation as the typical installation path. Some installers look for missing dependencies then either bundle it together, or direct people to the Microsoft site to install that component first.
