osx high sierra gestures/switching desktops

I'm connecting 2 laptops with osx high sierra.

gestures are recognised only on same machine that touch pad I'm using to make gesture.

when synergy is enabled, switching desktop with gesture (3 fingers swipe to left/right) doesn't auto-focus on "main application" in the new desktop, instead - it stays focused on old desktop. disabling synergy fixes it, but then I don't have synergy anymore which is suboptimal.
