So close to working desktop switching

I'm using Windows 10 as my server and MacOS as a client. I remapped two buttons on my mouse to do next and previous desktop. I was wishing I could use them to switch desktops on the Mac as well, but had no hope. Sure enough, it didn't seem to work. However....it suddenly started working!!! However it quickly became clear that it only works when the Windows machine is on desktop 0. If it's on any other desktop, the Mac ignores them.

Just in case someone finds it helpful or knows something that might get it working more generally.
