Davey Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 It'd be really handy to see what's been updated between 2.0, 2.0.1 and 2.0.2
PWA Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Hi Davey, I agree with you. Hi, Symless - could you please provide release notes. Could you also provide a user guide - specifically how to start, stop and control Synergy - how it is supposed to work and if there are any commands / configuration / controls that influence its behavior. I like the tool and have no problem waiting for these small annoyances to be fixed, but it took me ages to work out that the GUI issue on a mac is a known problem because I had no idea how I was supposed to bring it up. I also suspect there are commands that do things and my aimlessly clicking around the screen to try and guess how to control Synergy is not a good use of my time. From my perspective, if my computers (a Mac running 10.12.6 and a PC running Windows 10 Fall Creators Edition - i.e., the latest version of Windows 10). I find that if the PC goes to sleep and wakes up again, Synergy 2.02 does not re-establish contact between the machines. To get them to work, I have to reboot the PC and start clicking and then I have to start Synergy on both machines (the Synergy GUI does not start up on the Mac - except through a command line) and start clicking the images on the screens that eventually show up. After
aristizabal95 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I agree. Not only would it be nice, but it would also allow us to help the developers by checking what was changed on the latest update and give some feedback about those changes. Every time Synergy updates, I find myself searching for any changelog that may provide me any clues on what has been improved.
Neil Carpenter Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 And 2.0.3! It would be lovely to know if any of the problems I'm having are fixed.
jdrockho Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Ditto. Release notes would be very welcome.
theiss Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Same. Holding off on reverting back to syn 1 in hopes of some sort of configuration. Thought that was supposed to be in 2.0.3... Release notes would be appreciated.

I'm also waiting for this update
Sir Logic Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I also vote for release notes. That is generally considered standard practice on any software being released to users.

Yep, Nick Bolton stated this on the pinned post under Synergy 2 > Feature Ideas "Synergy 2.1 (due early 2018) will be for the minority who want to tinker under the hood. It will have a settings screen, offline activation and other advanced options for more technical users"
PWA Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Hi all, thanks for responses - especially from Nick. For the record, I had no initial desire to tinker under the hood - particularly if the connections between my machines started up automatically after any machine was rebooted or awoke from sleep .... or I knew how to start the GUI from a command line on a mac because it did not appear if I clicked the icon. But they connections did not reconnect automatically and I had to muck around a bit and google a lot to figure out how one sets which machine is the "server" etc. Its obvious once you know - but to figure out initially to right click on the server icons took a lot of clicking in those windows. I also did not know if there was a GUI window on the mac. I agree with all the reasons and advantages of having release notes mentioned above. The reason for a short user guide was just really to shortcut the learning process and have an idea what is supposed to happen - just in case it doesn't. Even the limited controls that are there for the current version. I consider these two items feature requests. For example - I still don't know how to get the PC and MAC to both be servers at the same time - or if that is possible. Anyway - I look forward to the 2.1 update. Cheers, Peter

Just wanted to clarify that Nick Bolton has not replied to this topic, I just quoted one of his posts. It'd be nice if Nick Bolton or someone from the Synergy team responded to this, since it appears to be something most of the community really need, me included. 8 hours ago, PWA said: The reason for a short user guide was just really to shortcut the learning process and have an idea what is supposed to happen - just in case it doesn't. As of right now, you can't have more than one machine acting as server. But Synergy 2 will switch servers automatically whenever it sees some keyboard/mouse interaction on any connected device.
MW Lake Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Hi Nick and team. I would appreciate it if you would add the new feature of having Release notes either on your Web page Downloads area or some other place that is highly visible. There was a note in the forum here from April 2017 with a link to your Github site release notes. I see that page on Github is no longer available. Most Apps either Mobile, Mac, Windows etc. have this feature included from day 1. Keep your user base informed, keep your user base happy. As someone else here suggested, we, your users can then give you better feedback on the new improvements. Merry Christmas
Mr. Christopher Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 2.0.4 is out now which is awesome! I was searching around for the release notes and stumbled upon this forum. I can't remember the last time I knew of any program with no release notes; Symless, we'd love to know how you're improving the app for us! It's always exciting to get a new version but a bit of a buzzkill when I have no idea what changed.
RobQ Posted December 27, 2017 Posted December 27, 2017 updating now from 2.0.3 to 2.0.4, thought I'd check back on this thread, still no release notes, oh look I need to shut down chrome and 8 other apps because files are in use. be back next update...
Cheater Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Isn't it obvious what has changed? The version number bottom left. No really, me, changelog-hungry too!
mstublefield Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 Looks like release notes are now on the forum!
Mr. Christopher Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 Wonderful! Thanks Nick Bolton and mstublefield!
Edward Trumbull Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 Yay! Thank you for the release notes. One more request - please make sure that the release notes can be referred to at any time, not just when you update. Sometimes we like to refer back to them after the fact.

GranPaSmurf Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 As moderators, we posted UNOFFICIAL documentation. I copied Nick's release notes to the end. https://symless.com/forums/topic/5250-synergy-2-unofficial-documentation/
