vsndesigns Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I too have been having the problem with copying and pasting. Funny thing though, for the past month it was working fine. To my knowledge, I do not have Teamviewer installed on my Desktop computer. I have Windows 10 Pro on one computer and Windows 7 on the other. Later yesterday afternoon my ability to copy and paste stopped working. However, I am able to Drag and Drop shotcuts, Docs, and images from my multimonitor Windows 10 to my Windows 7 seemlessly. Weird, huh? I should take a snapshot of my Synergy log... Quote

Mark Burgess Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 When I lose copy/paste and mouse wheel scrolling, I just hit "Apply" on the server's app and it comes back. No idea why it disappears. All my machines are on a cabled network and not wifi, so as far as I know there is no network drop that would cause it. I do wonder if MS Office somehow interferes. Mark Quote

I know that Windows 10 has been experimenting with Cloudbased Clipboards for a while and I should double check if I updated my Windows 10 yesterday. Under a Windows 10 support ticket I found the following: Copy images and text from one PC to another with a cloud-based clipboard. Not only can you can paste from your clipboard history, but you can also pin the items you find yourself using all the time. To get to your clipboard history at any time, press Windows logo key + V. You can also paste and pin frequently used items by choosing an individual item from your clipboard menu. To share your clipboard items across your Windows 10 devices, select Start > Settings > System > Clipboard. Choose Automatically sync text that I copy under Sync across devices. The sync feature is tied to your Microsoft account, or your work account, so remember to use the same login information on all your devices. Quote
vsndesigns Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I did get an automated response from Synergy themselves, which stated that Synergy doesn't support Copying and Pasting at this time, but we all know that that isn't true, but it is a good canned response. Years back I played around with the original script from Mouse Without Borders from the Windows Garage Team and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread! I still have a KVM switch somewhere around here, just in case! Quote
Michael Taggatz Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Since maybe 3 or 4 weeks, I also have problems with copy and paste after selecting a Twitter emoji in Firefox on Windows 10 Pro. Additionally, I can't navigate in the tweet anymore, neither with the arrow keys nor with the mouse. I can move the cursor to another position, but if I delete a character, it will be deleted at the old position. After a stop and start of the Synergy Server everything is back to normal. Unfortunately I can't tell in which context the new problems started. Twitter again, on a mouse over, shows a text for the emoji under the cursor. This hasn't worked for several months after a Twitter update. But I wasn't aware that there had just been another Twitter update. On the other hand, there was a Firefox update. 1 Quote
vsndesigns Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 @Michael Taggatz, sounds like a lot of different possible bugs. I have found some work arounds but I prefer if everything would just work as paid for. I think as different software programs get written, sometimes some coding just gets lost in the wind, until we put up enough stink about it for young brilliant minds to go ahead and fix. Much like some software programs, like Autodesk, which was based on an already buggy AutoCad, even the latest versions fail because it still has to address legacy software programs. Until brand new base architecture is developed to once and for all resolve these issues, I doubt if any programmer can keep up with the ever changing world of the internet. Some may come close, like Dragon Naturally Speaking, but until it's perfect, like on Star Trek, I doubt I will ever be happy speaking to a computer. Mayhaps why I did on those old fashioned Mechanical Gaming Keyboards so much, they just rock! 1 Quote
jdnotifier Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 I use this daily between my mac and window computer. Often copy/paste works reliably from host->client and client->host the first time. Text is often relatively consistent. Images and larger files seem to be what cause it to go not continuing to paste. If I copy a picture from iMessage (client) and paste in Onenote (host) it is a 50/50 unless i restart server. Clipboard sharing setting set to 50. I would expect copy/paste issues to arise after 10-20 images as maybe the cache or clipboard is not being cleared? Amazing application, really wish copy/paste was more reliable. Quote

I've been playing around with both Synergy and Mouse Without Borders for a few months now, and I am surprised that I'm able to use both at the same time. I have had some issues with Windows 10 latest update with Mouse Without Borders and get an error message that it is being terminated due to an internal issue and it creates a dump file. Of course I am not using Mouse Without Borders latest edition since the primary reason I was using it was to include one of my Windows XP computers along with the mix, which doesn't play nicely with Synergy. Considering that One Third of Businesses in 2019 Still Have Active Windows XP Deployments, you would think that such a large company as Synergy would have the foresight to address the third of 1.5 billion PCs in use worldwide because of their penchants for Legacy Software. I don't think I like the limitations on the the max size for the clipboard as documents, photos and files are getting bigger with every generation, just my 2 cents. Quote

Comissar Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 Same problem with me - was about to open a support ticket when I ran across this thread. I'm on 1.11.1, and had no problems for several months between my Windows 10 server and Windows 10 second workstation. Then about a month ago, it started happening regularly. Restarting or re-applying on the server side is the only thing that fixes it. I notice that in the server log, it stops logging "screen "(main server)" updated clipboard x" when the problem occurs, and after restarting, the log message returns whenever the clipboard is updated. I've also had the same problem going in the other direction - copy from the workstation doesn't work to the server, but problems in that direction is rare (or maybe I just don't need to do it as often), and I haven't looked at the logs or tried restarting either Synergy task to see if it fixes things in that case. A second problem others mentioned above I've also had since I installed 1.11.1 is that scrolling stops on the secondary machine. The fix for that is to move the mouse to the server and then back to the workstation, and then scrolling works again - no need to restart or apply on either machine. I was a new user and only on the prior version for a few weeks before upgrading to 1.11.1 as the result of a support ticket, so both problems may have been there before and I just didn't realize it. No idea what the trigger is for any of these issues. I keep seeing references by other people to drag and drop, but I've never gotten it to work, nor does cut and paste of anything other than text. I also have a Mac workstation in the setup, but don't use it nearly as often, and can't say whether any of the above issues apply to the Mac. I will also open a support ticket. Synergy.log Quote

I just thought it was buggy but 'knowing' that I just have to move my cursor back and forth sure makes it a lot more acceptable. Once you do get the dragging and dropping feature, you're gonna love it! I have the checkbox enabled, but when I grab an object (a text file on my server machine's desktop) and drag to the next window, the object disappears and I just have a standard mouse pointer. I had the log window open on both machines, and they both report the mouse leaving/entering the screen as you would expect - the same as your video shows (nice, BTW!). All three issues (clipboard, drag & drop, and scrolling) are known bugs to be fixed in a "future release". Disconcerting, given that the first two have been around for three years, although I suppose it's possible they were fixed and broke again recently. They did provide the useful suggestion of setting up a hotkey to restart the server (https://support.symless.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005565457), making it slightly less annoying. Quote

I know they are trying their best, but I can only imagine what it would be like on the receiving end. Anywho, I get a lot of great ideas and suggestions just scouring through forums and Alexie or David was the one who got me up and running a couple weeks ago. All this reminds me of back in the days when Handspring Treo was my Smart phone and Palm Pre was beginning to put all of these great ideas together to make something better, smaller, and faster. I love working on prototypes myself and love tinkering at every possible juncture. Do you remember Palm Pre? It was cool but pretty slow because technology was still trying to catch up. Iphone just settled a law suit with MIT or was it Cal Tech, but they became the big dog...they had to...the ipod was seeing it's last days. The trouble with open source, well, it's open...to everyone or every competitor. As of late, I noticed that Logitech has Logitech Options which comes free with their keyboards and mice, and supposingly does KB or KBD as well. I haven't had much luck with it so far, but I also have Legacy in my arsenal...which nobody wants to support nowadays. I wish I could tell you what I'm doing to make mine work, but to be honest, I think it might be a combination of having MWOB and Synergy both on all my computers and making sure that they are the same model numbers. I have the checkbox enabled and when I drag and drop, you notice that it the object momentarily disappears from the cursor, but the item is dropped onto the desktop. I have a wireless computer behind me as well, connected by wifi, and there is a slight latency, but I'm guessing because I have a lot of bluetooth and wifi gadgets surrounding me as well. I'll try to figure out why mine is working in the meantime. I know Synergy Tech minds can figure all this out, and I'm hoping they will. Maybe, I'll put a video together showing what I want this program to do and it would be easier for them to address these issues. I've used their website affiliate to show my Log and took snippets of what my Synergy Basic dialog boxes look like. I think I need to make it simpler for them to understand and to most importantly, to keep it fun! What Synergy may or may not realize is that an investment in helping us inquisitive types, truly is, an investment in their future. I remember when people used to laugh because I had multi-monitors, in the near future, they'll be a lot more multi-computers, if only to serve as a way of storing our own data. Peace Comissar! I can click and drag files, images, documents, excel files, short-cuts, I just tried to click and drag a mpeg movie file, but I got this error message at the bottom, saying that I exceeded the size limit (3072 KB). So far, I have 3 Computers with Synergy on them. From left to right, I have Windows 10 Pro (Dual booted with Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3) on separate Drives, to my right I have my Windows 7 Pro, and Behind me I have my Wifi Connected Dell Convertible Notepad running Windows 10 Pro as well.
