Eric Brundick 0
Hi folks- I just installed v1.7.3 on Windows (32-bit) and Linux (64-bit), the Linux laptop is the server in this install. The new v1.7.3 Windows client won't talk to my previous version of the Linux server so I had to upgrade both. However, upon installing the Linux version, while I did get the splash screen asking me to set up (and login with my premium credentials), when it tried to load the plugin list there was an error, at which case the wizard only gave me the option to close. I didn't get a screenshot of this unfortunately but I cannot get back to that wizard either, even after rm -Rf ~/.synergy and deleting/reinstalling the RPM. Right now it's in a state where when I type 'synergy', no GUI shows up at all, it just appears to run some default params for 'synergys' and the Windows client can't seem to connect. Here's what happens when I run 'synergy' at the cmdprompt in Linux:
[ebrundic@spock ~]$ synergy --help *** WARNING *** The program 'synergy' uses the Apple Bonjour compatibility layer of Avahi. *** WARNING *** Please fix your application to use the native API of Avahi! *** WARNING *** For more information see <http://0pointer.de/avahi-compat?s=libdns_sd&e=synergy> *** WARNING *** The program 'synergy' called 'DNSServiceRegister()' which is not supported (or only supported partially) in the Apple Bonjour compatibility layer of Avahi. *** WARNING *** Please fix your application to use the native API of Avahi! *** WARNING *** For more information see <http://0pointer.de/avahi-compat?s=libdns_sd&e=synergy&f=DNSServiceRegister> ("-f", "--no-tray", "--debug", "DEBUG", "--name", "spock", "--enable-crypto", "--log", "/home/ebrundic/synergy.log", "-c", "/tmp/qt_temp.TJ5375", "--address", ":24800")
This is what I see in the Windows client window:
NOTE: started client NOTE: connecting to '10.104.115.69': 10.104.115.69:24800 ERROR: ssl error occurred (generic failure) ERROR: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol ERROR: failed to connect secure socket NOTE: disconnected from server NOTE: stopped client WARNING: detected application not running, pid=16000 activeDesktop:Default NOTE: started client NOTE: connecting to '10.104.115.69': 10.104.115.69:24800 ERROR: ssl error occurred (generic failure) ERROR: error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol ERROR: failed to connect secure socket NOTE: disconnected from server
Eric Brundick 0
Ok, for kicks, I tried doing 'sudo synergy' to see if the wizard pops up. It did. Plugins fail now with v1.7.2 (rolling back) with:
Jan Peterson 1
If you can get the gui to come back up (maybe remove the .synergy directory again), you can rerun the wizard from the File menu. Given that your machine is RPM based, you might find this thread useful: http://synergy-project.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=350#p1062 Good luck! I finally got my setup working after stracing the client to figure out what file it was looking for the trusted server fingerprints in. Some documentation would come in handy on this critter.
