richborch 0
Hi, Since this morning, I am also having connection issues: Server says: "ERROR: ipc connection error, connection refused" Client says: "WARNING: failed to connect to server: Connection was refused" I've been using this application (v1.5.0) on Windows 7 for the last two years (almost) without any issues. My IP addresses and network connections are okay and restarting the applications / machines makes no difference. Thank you and Best Regards Richard
Scott Boutwell 0
Having same issue with 1.7.1 as well. Completed the UPGRADE, as well as the wizard. Still showing BASIC. Running, Windows 7 32Bit. Confirmed Email and Password. Rebooted system, still same issue.
speaker 0
In the process list you can find "synergyc", "synergys", & "synergy" which are the client, server, & service respectively. If synergys is running and another tries to start, it will complain about IPC errors. Reboot should fix this state, but if it gets bound up, one thing to try is to kill off all synergy client(s) and server(s) on the machine, and then stop the windows service and start it again. Then try to proceed as normal. If this isn't working, which is sounds like might be the case, than there might be something more sinister going on that we need to look into. Any logging you can post in around failures might help.
the-wes 5
correction: "synergy" is the GUI, "synergyd.exe" is the service. An "IPC connection error" refers to an issue with Synergy's Windows Service. You can check this by pulling up your Run box and typing in services.msc. There should be one listed for Synergy, just make sure it's "Started" - if it won't start, re-install Synergy. If that doesn't help, reply here with what happens and hopefully that will provide a clue as to where to look next.
Scott Boutwell 0
Windows 7.1 all the latest updates in place. Clean uninstall of old previous Synergy, using standard windows uninstall method from control panel. Installed 1.7.1. Avast complained about the INSTALLATION, told it to continue. Installed, same error and issue as above. Uninstalled. Second install attempt, ran CCleaner on registry. The uninstall process has left 4 entries behind. However no services or process were still on the system. Checking via TaskManager. Run the installer getting, synergys.exe has stopped working now. Debugger says it's an UNHANDLED win32 exception that occurred in synergys.exe [5820]. Occurs just before the FINISH button can be pressed. Task Manager show's Synergy Service is in place. Processes show syndergyd.exe as well as synergys.exe box in place. Reboot the synergys.exe crashes and gives the following result. Scott Boutwell 0
After using REVO uninstaller it appears to have CLEANED the registry properly and gotten a GOOD INSTALL. However all previous settings are no longer available. Clean self install and upward migration needs to be a good focus on the next release. It's still having alot of issues with the Server for this. More than any other version so far. Rolling back to old version for today till I can try more testing.
