karl wiggisser
I installed synergy "1.8.4-stable-a6ff907" today and it's completely unusable. I have a Win8.1 as server and a Mac ElCapitan as client. On the client i checked "auto config" which worked fine for a very long time now (at least I don't remember entering a server IP in any of the past release). Now if I want to start synergy I get the error message "Please fill in a hostname for the synergy client to connect to". If I enter my servers IP address it will allow me to start the client. BUT The server CRASHES! I start the server, but in the moment, the client tries to connect I get a warning in the log window "unrecognised client name 'name-of-my-client'" and an error popup "synergys.exe has stopped working". In the interactive server configuration my mac had a different name, so I removed it and added it with the exact name which is shown in the clients window. Did not help. I tried restarting the server and the client, which then let me connect server and client. In the moment I click "stop" in the server window, I again get the message "synergys.exe" has stopped working. I'm using synergy for quite a long time now, but I'm sorry to say, it gets worse with every release. Things that worked before stopped working. It's crashing all the time. And the connection seems to be very slow because my mouse-cursor is often stuck for several seconds, not only on the clients screen, but also on the servers screen. I really must say, this release is the worst I have ever seen and calling this "stable" can only be a joke. If I would deploy such code-quality on our alpha-testing server, I get serious problems with my boss.
John W. Miller
I have this same issue! Running a server on Windows 7 and client on OSX 11. My Windows server often locks up and I get a Windows error message that the program has stopped working.
John W. Miller
The problem is repeatable for me under the following circumstances: 1.) I make any change to the server configuration server (Windows throws the error message after I click Apply in Synergy). 2.) The Windows error message pops up about Synergy any time I need to enter my administrator password (system-wide). When the error message pops up, the Window's mouse becomes extremely laggy until I click Quit/Exit on the error message. However, Synergy does not actually quit. It stay open and manages to reconnect with my Mac after about 5-10 seconds. John
Stephen1491393385
I am having this problem as well. It happens on some random occasions, but also nearly every time I lock my server (win+L). I get a generic message that synergys.exe has stopped working and I can't use the mouse and keyboard on the server at this point - the only way I have found to recover from this is to remotely kill synergys.exe using psexec/pskill from another computer. Everything resumes working fine at that point until the next time that synergys.exe crashes. The error message displayed provides the following information: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX64 Application Name: synergys.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp: 57fcaf85 Fault Module Name: StackHash_99d7 Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Offset: PCH_8B_FROM_ntdll+0x0000000000090C6A Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Data: 0000000000000008 OS Version: 6.3.9600.2.0.0.272.7 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 99d7 Additional Information 2: 99d7ee9fdb0e6afce18c887360f091d2 Additional Information 3: 6178 Additional Information 4: 6178ed476ad94eafd294902b2a995eb2 Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=280262 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt The Windows Event Log shows the following: Faulting application name: synergys.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x57fcaf85Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x0000000002264c30 Faulting process id: 0x1920 Faulting application start time: 0x01d224b96f00ff76 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Synergy\synergys.exe Faulting module path: unknown Report Id: 7a33b6f3-90ad-11e6-80e8-f04da2374606 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:
John W. Miller
Synergy seems to behave better if I start the server first before ever opening the client on my Mac. Opening Synergy on my Mac first, leads to Synergy hanging on the Windows server.
BryanM
Same issues here. So far if I lock windows and log back in the error appears, lags mouse and keyboard response. Also happens if I'm connected to my client, and the client disconnects. That crash has some added bonus behavior of making windows disappear and reappear and some beeps from my speakers that I've never heard before. It happens when I hit stop on the server too. Barcelona Computers
Having trouble with WinLinMac network while SSL enabled. Having SSL enabled causes serious "lag" when moving from screen to screen or generally moving about on one screen. very annoying! Tried all remedies/suggestions posted here with no result. It seems the further Synergy is developed the more problems we encounter?
Steve Kopman
I have the same issue here. 1.8.4 continuously causes Windows errors and locks up the mouse. Michael Holstein
Having the same issue, windows 7 as server, and OS X 10.11.6 client. The auto configure isn't working at all have to type in the server IP. Synergy crashes on the server frequently "Stopped working" error. I usually have to keep a keyboard plugged into the client because upon startup it tries to default to auto config, which isn't working, so I have to manually type in the ip every time I reboot. Any resolution?? Should I try reverting to an older version of the software?

Russell Southey
1.8.4 has not worked for me - after installation I experienced weird screen flickering and icon flashing on the server desktop and no mouse response on the client. I uninstalled 18.4 and went back to 1.7.6 - everything is working as expected.

Spanish keyboard configuration using Linux Mint 64 bits as a server and Windows 10 64 bits as a client. Does it has to work? Regards. Don Thiessen
Running synergy X64 on two windows 10 PC's. If the server is actively running Google Chrome, the mouse scroll wheel on the client PC does not work on Windows Explorer or Google Chrome on the client PC. If you minimize Google Chrome on the Server PC, the scroll wheel functions normally on the Client PC.
Christian Kim
Has anyone gotten a resolution to the "Synergy stopped responding" message on screen lock?
