"@" symbol not working from Arch linux server to Ubuntu

Hi there, I hope someone can help as this is driving me a little crazy at work. When I try to use the "@" symbol on a UK keyboard its produces Ω instead. I am on 1.7.6 on both distributions and the "@" works fine on the server (Arch box). Thanks in advance. Josh
