Windows Scaling breaks cursor movement on Mac

I got a new monitor for christmas that is 2560x1440 which means that I need to use resolution scaling on the windows 10 machine otherwise the text is too small to read. Anyway, once I change this setting, the mouse behavior on my Mac client becomes somewhat erratic. It seems to have problems when switching windows and on menu bars and such. For example, on the desktop background I can move my mouse around freely and accurately, once I move the cursor to the edge of google chrome, it slows down and becomes a slightly unresponsive. I notice that I has a tendency to move upwards more quickly than it moves downwards. If anyone has any idea on how to fix the issue that would be hugely appreciated.
